Rep Power: 0 | LLM league setting question
Hello all, hope you don't mind a newbie/lurker jumping in. I'm making the jump up to FM 2006, well WWSM 06, from 01/02. I've always played lower leagues, but sometimes not true LLM (My favorite team is Queen of the South who are now in Scotland 1st, so they wouldn't qualify under the LLM rules naymore). I'm wondering how the various league and database settings effect the ability of finding players for LLM. When playing a conference side in 01/02 I would run England in the foreground (obviously) with Scotland, Ireland, and N. Ireland in the background. Now with the new detail settings level, the ability to load national databases and database sizes, I'm not sure how the settings effect the number of lower level players available in the game.
I'm thinking of putting England on full, and running the max leagues in the other 3 countries on normal with a small database, would I see a good number of players for Conference North/South if I did that? Are there better setting options to get a good amount of players without sacrificing speed too much?

Jason, if you only listen to one word of advice then make it this one
To play a reasonable game of LLM you must, you must, use the huge Db if at all possible. En ce moment I'm running Northern Paddyland, Jockland and Poofland on huge Db with all available Divisions running.

Ouch, I'm not sure my current system can handle a huge DB with any type of speed. Maybe if I only ran England with no other leagues.
BTW:
2.4GHz
512 MB RAM
Approx. 15GB free HD space
Thanks for the advice though

Mine is a 2.5 P4 with 512MB RAM and God knows how much HDD space and it runs grand. I'd played nigh-on 30 seasons before it was around a week to start a game and save it |

Three countries (Northern Paddyland, Jockland and Poofland), 14 Divisions.

Sorry, for some reason I didn't pick up on your last line of your previous post. I blame the 8 hours of meetings over the last 2 days. |

For what its worth, I would sacrifice a bit of game speed. Mind you, I play at a fairly sedate pace anyway.

| That's your age. Everything you do is sedate.
