In Iceland, all winter is a break! 
There is only one cup you play in, too, either the Upper or Lower League Cup. The Cups are two round robin groups, of I believe 12 teams, maybe 14, with 6-7 in each group.
Though it's been a while since my Iceland save, I might be wrong.

Not really It's so small, you even get all the fixtures on the same screen as the league table, like in International qualifying groups.
