Chaps

Have waited for the 3 season rule, before posting my new progress thread, so here it is.

I decided to start off at the bottom again, and I took on the Harrogate Town job, from the English Conference North. Why Harrogate I hear you ask ? Well, mainly it's the closest side available to start with, from my part of the world (Newcastle/North East England)

It was gonna be a challenge - very similar to my FM2005 game where I started with Bradford PA. This time though, Harrogate have got a smaller ground, and not much of a squad. So ;

Season 2005-06

Promoted from the Conference North in my first season as Champions. Managed the FA Cup 1st round, so the cup run brought in a bit of cash.

Season 2006-07

A bit of a struggle here, but I managed to pilot Harrogate to 9th in The Conference, after a very dodgy spell before Xmas when I couldn't buy a win ! However, sorted out my formations a little, and make progress - winning the FA Trophy on the way.

Season 2007-08

Finished as Conference Champions after a last day win at home to Halifax ! Managed to pip Boston United to the title by 1 point. Had a good start to the season, but another dodgy spell before Xmas where we dropped off towards mid-table. However, form was rediscovered and we went on a fantastic run of losing only 1 league game in 3-4 months. I had rejected a new contract from Harrogate - am currently on £300 a week, but they wanted to knock it down to £80 ! But, this was before I had won the Conference ...... so we shall see.

FM2006 does seem to be a bit harder, and I have read some of the complaints in the GQ section. I'm not sure if it's in as bad a state as what some are making out. I'm doing fine, and not cheating !

Cheers chaps.

Forgot to add which Leagues I'm running - England (Conference North/South and upwards), Italy (Serie A and B), Spain (Primera League), Holland (Premier League), Germany (2nd divison and above), and Scotland (Premier League). All with a normal database.

Glad to see another BG thread. KUTGW, big man :thup:

Ian, it's pronounced Harrow-gate by its populace as it has earmarked itself as "the posh bit" of the area. Mainly because the people who live there have more money than those who live in Leeds...

The guy I know must be a scruff as he pronounces it "arrergayte"
