I started a lower league career a few days ago as unemployed. Kettering Town were looking for someone, I sent my CV in and got the job. Though they only offered me £100 a week fulltime for 3 years, I accepted. How anyone can live on that, is beyond me...though being young and inexperienced, I held my tongue. Worst was to come...
Upon arriving at the club, the chairman drops a bombshell telling me there are no transfer funds available and they can only give some extra cash on the wages front. Fine...then it seems I'll have to build the team around the players and not the other way around.
Though when I get to the dressing room to meet the players, my jaw hits the ground (no..it wasn't the smell of old socks!). Where are the wing-backs or right/left defenders?! In compense they left me about two squads worth of central defenders. So instantly the tried and tested formation goes out the window...hmmm...I'm going to have to be creative here.

After my first flurry of games, I instantly saw a problem with the defence...it's got a big hole in it. We're nearly averaging 2 goals taken per game and as you'd expect we suffer a lot from deep runs down the flanks and free crosses raining in.
On the plus side, the attack is wonderful to watch. Fast, vibrant...but the usual problem with poor finishing...that's why we're losing many games. That can't be helped though...lower league strikers are hit and miss.
*tactics question*
We're near the bottom and we're supposed to be promotion contendors...my time is up if I don't turn it around soon...we're losing games we should comfortably win (according to Totalbet.com). :kris102:
I did read them...what did I do wrong? I didn't ask for formations or specific tactics. Just general ideas on what other people would do...you know...stick with what I've got and try and plug the holes, or give up and do something else?
You've named tactics, you've described your strategies and you're asking for advice (general or otherwise).
None of which are acceptable in this forum.
Maybe read a few more threads (especially the closed ones) if you don't quite understand the subtleties in the rules - you'll soon see what's acceptable and what's not.
I'd make sure that you understand what you did wrong in your original post before continuing as I doubt others will be so kind as to explain. And Evo's back.
Ok then...then the rules, as I've read them, are open to mis-interpretation. What I read from them is you can't ask for specific formations or tactics, but doesn't mention general opinions on what people would do. Not saying I would do any of them, just interests me how other people would handle it.
Don't really see any harm in what I asked....but if those are the rules, then I suppose my post was unknowingly in breach of the rules.
Do not discuss or name tactics ever.
Do not ask for any type of advice ever.
Is this an update? If so, complete 3 season before offering brief recollections of your progress.

Maybe it's not clear in the guidelines (for an Italian sledger maybe), I hope the above clears it a little.
Yep...clear as daisys. Though cos it's not logical, is probably why people misinterpret the guidelines. Can't people who want to discuss tactics just put a spoiler warning like what happens on the rest of the internet, then the person can choose to read or not read the thread. Oh well, I thought this was a forum for a game. i.e. fun...I suppose for some of you people it goes beyond that?
wewak: You've told me what I CAN'T discuss, can you now be so kind as to tell me what I CAN discuss? Cause the way I see it...it doesn't leave much else...
If you want to discuss tactics there is a place for that. If you want to discuss tactics there then the guidelines do state that you will not be welcome here so spoiler warnings are not needed. Here's how:
It has been stated and proved many times that you cannot do llm and non-llm. You can do one or the other. The guidelines do state that you must play in the spirit of llm to post here. Therefore, if you are discussing tactics, you are not llm, you are not welcome here.
I'm not trying to be aggressive or abusive just trying to state the facts as succinctly and matter-of-factly as possible so as to avoid confusion.
If you can live with not discussing tactics or other llm untouchables then by all means stick around and you will be welcomed. llm is the zenith of FM play and only those that realise it will gain anything from this forum.
