I was curious how others feel about selling young players off who have the potential to be stars in order to cash in on a big payday. I am currently playing Oxford United and have moved up from D2 to the Championship and just finished in the middle of the table in my first Championship season. My dilemma is I purchased a young keeper for a few hundred thousand and he has won my number 1 keeper position and is now values at $1.8 million. I have had an offer of $2.7 million plus a decent veteran keeper. I am tempted and cannot make up my mind and this led me to start wondering how others feel about selling off young star players for big money. This player looks to be a star in the making and is only 20. I am not poor, but only have about $600,000 for transfers. It ends up being an interesting dilemma.
Decent query, but for the sake of all concerned only queries based on llm (read the stickies if you're not sure what that really is, or even if you think you are sure) should be posted here.
I've just had to agree to a Chelski bid for the N.Irish striker. His contract was running out in 17 months and he didn't want to renew it
He was also on scoring strike and unsettled for the past two months, so I thought I'd better cash in the £12.5m+25% of next sale. As soon as the deal was agreed, he 'found' his scoring boots again.
The money will be good, but it'll be a sad day seeing him playing for another club.
I seem to be getting the whole 'Doesn't think Eastleigh can meet his demands' contract shenanegins a fair bit lately. It has resulted in me losing a few young starts but I generally have been able to replace them with some left over change.
Realistically lower league clubs are always going to lose their best players, it is just a matter of taking advantage of the loss in the best way you can.
