Am well into my ongoing FM game - been managing for over 30 seasons now. :o I guess this could have gone in GQ, but since I'm an LLM'er, I hope I'll be able to talk about it in here. And no - no naming of players, tactics, etc.
Does anyone find in their games that the leagues seem to balance themselves out ? I'm finding that it's increasingly rare that one team runs away with the league - all teams, inc those towards the bottom seemed to be bunched pretty much together, with not many points seperating ?
I'm not sure if all of the sides in the game are becoming more equal, etc as time moves on - or is it a fair reflection of real life ?

I noticed that, or similar, as well in my long save, John...although I only had two Nations loaded.
Big teams were more likely to be relegated and smaller teams that came up from League 2 were then ensconced in the upper reaches of the EPL until the day I quit the save.

I've not really seen any sides from my long term game make it from League 2 to the PL- save for the likes of Oxford, Bournemouth and Doncaster. None of these sides managed to stay in PL once they got there though. I'm noticing this season that some of the more traditional big sides in the PL are struggling, which really shouldn't be the case given their resources.

I tend to find this happens quite early on as well. The teams that start the game with an advantage soon lose it.
I think money is one of the main reasons - the lesser clubs seem to build up big bank balances which makes them able to compete better in the transfer market.

I have Sweden, Denmark and Bulgaria loaded up in my save, it's 2019 and Goteberg have won 9 of the past 10 titles in Sweden and Brondby have won the past 5 in Denmark. Not sure about Bulgaria.
That indicates the dominance is alive and well to me, in my save at least.

I'll check the balacing in my save later today, cba to start FM now just to do that.
About "lower" clubs into the Premier League. Seems more realistic then in CM01/02 where you could find Liverpool ( ) in the Conference after 20 seasons. Now the big clubs stay big and the smaller clubs stay small. In my save the EPL is still kind of dominated by Manure, L'pool, Arsenal, Chelsea. Only Man City seems to be a new topteam now.

In my save, I've been in Argentina for six years, from 2016-2022 and yes, there's a definite "levelling out" going on - you can't really predict which team's going to win the league before the season starts, or even which are going to be relegated that easily.
The top five teams in the league normally contain two of the traditional big five (River, Boca, Racing Club and Independiente - with San Lorenzo being terrible and even got relegated) but the other three are generally open for anyone - even newly promoted teams. As it is, I just took over at River Plate (\o/) and they are truly awful - definitely outside the top 5 in terms of quality.

2028/29
1. Newcastle 38-79
2. Man City 38-66
11. Blackburn 38-44
17. Villa 38-40
20. WBA 38-36
2027/28 looks normal (7 point gap at top, 5 points at bottom)
2026/27 close top, rather big gap at bottom
Bundesliga is normal on top, bottom is a little further apart then in EPL.
Holland is big gap on top, small at the bottom
Spain is close at the top last few years, bottom is like the Bundesliga
Italy is just like the other, apart from the 2027/28 season when Milan finished on 92 points and Inter in 2nd place had 87 points. 3rd placed Roma was 20 points behind Inter. Probably because I managed Milan that season.
Hmm, in every league I manage (and win the title) is a big gap at the top, usual it's 2 teams running away from the rest. When I'm not interfearing with the top positions the league seems to stay very close.
In my current season (Barca manager) we're 2nd, Espanyol has 10-28, we have 10-25 and 3rd placed Valencia has 10-17 and is only 7 points above the relegationzone.
