Worth a try.
However, I really did want your opinion, for the very reasons you mention. Your experience (collectively) and thoughts on this type of thing are useful.
So, no I didn't take your answer as a rebuke, Ian - this is what I want to know.
I know what you mean about 'for this forum', and I'm fully aware of the kinds of posters the other site will probably attract, at least initially, but I want to ensure, as far as I can, that the integrity of LLM from the site's standpoint is maintained. They want guides, so at least I'll do what I can to make them LLM friendly.
Like I said, if there's no interest from existing LLaMas, then at least we'll have the feedback.

I think it'd be pretty slick if done right. I never pick a completely random team myself. I've chosen teams based purely on proximity to a place I'd like to visit or kit colors. I think seeing club history, stadium pictures, badges & kits would be extra spiffy for me. Maybe even location on a map, heh.
However, I can also see Ian's point - the project could easily include information that could lead to evaluating how easy or tough a challenge is - something that should strictly be avoided.
For me as a LLaMa, I would appreciate league rules. I don't view knowing the league as tipping at all, as any sane RL manager would also know.
All in all, it seems like a lot of work that would have a very limited audience. Hope that helps.

Sounds interesting. I like to have all the information on a league and its team in front of me at the start as, lets face it, its realistic - you wouldn't take over a club IRL without knowing anything about it or the rules of the league you are playing in?
I remember one of the FMs/CMs had a poster in the box which gave details on all the leagues. I'd concentrate more on stuff like that rather than team-specific info.
Which is the site btw?

Phil, Project X was something that was put together way back in the days of 01/02 which gave information about each lower league team (money, board expectations, stadium size, etc) so that LLaMas (or at least new LLaMas) could pick a team on how much of a challenge they appeared to be. There was another version done by A2000 for CM4, but by that point the concensus by established LLaMas was anti-Project X (partly because we felt uncomfortable about choosing a team on the info provided, but also partly because it was bloody hard to get the information as the number of leagues increased in the game) and pro-random generator (AKA Frank). It was felt that it was more in keeping with the spirit of LLM if you were randomly dumped in a league you've never played before controlling a team you've never heard of / can't pronounce.

Thanks
I think the random-ness of the team is all part of the fun, but I'm all for more league info before you start, but you make a good point about information being hard to come by - I've played some leagues and still don't know what the rules are.
Continental qualification in Hong Kong and how clubs are allocated to the Serbian and Montenegrin first leagues after relegation from the SuperLeague (in my current save) immidieately spring to mind.

| Well, let's put it this way: do you remember how long it took to get Frank up to date for 2006? And that was just team names and team colours.
Just be aware of exactly how much work it entails, and whether anybody's going to be interested, before going ahead with such a huge project.
