In control of AS Cherbourg in France, all of Germany, England League Two up, Italy Serie B up, Portgual, Spain, Belgium top leagues only loaded.
05-06
Board and supporters expect to battle bravely, oddsmakers figure I'll avoid the drop, but that's about it.
Finish 8th, needed a win and some help to get promotion spot, but in the end, got neither and finished 6 points back.
One and out in the Cup, entering and exiting in the 7th round.
Player of the year is my 22 yr old AM L, who led the division in assists with 16.
No surprise seeing England win the World Cup, as they always seem to...But beating Ireland in the final?
06-07
Again, expected to battle bravely, oddsmakers figure lower mid-table. Couple signings, one a GK, one a D/WB R.
Exploded into a promotion battle with an amazing 13 game league winning streak, which included 10 straight matches without conceding, both streaks ended in a 1-0 loss on a penalty, solely on the strength of new GK, definitely not the work of the defence. Wasn't enough, missed out on promotion on the last day, finish 4th.
Lose in the 11th round of the Cup to Toulouse. A win would have been some nice cash, as the next round would have seen me travel to play Paris St. Germain.
Player of the year is a 22 yr old S C who had 22 goals in all competitions. A 27 yr old S C is named French National Player of the Year after 18 goals and 9 assists.
End of the season sees my leading goal scorer from 05-06 move to Admira Wacker on a free.
07-08
This time the board expect us to avoid relegation. Nice to see they're ambitious.
Finished 4th again, same number of points, were top 3 all season until the 3rd last match, where we lost and it cost us a promotion spot.
Lost in the 10th round of the Cup to Le Havre, led 2-0 before falling 5-2.
The player of the year is another 22 yr old S C, who had 23 goals in all competitions.
France beat Germany in the final of the European Championships. World Champions England don't even make the quarters, finishing bottom of a group with France, Norway and Denmark.
08-09
No change, just avoid relegation. Oddsmaker figure us to be top 5, and I expect us to challenge for the title. Only one new player in, another D/WB R to give me a bit more depth.
Again, finished 4th, top 3 most of the season again, missed by 2 points. Likely aided by my two first choice strikers both being injured for over a month. Came down to the last day again, and again we needed help, and didn't get it.
Cups didn't really suck arse this season, went all the way to the semis, losing to French champions Bordeaux. Prelim round loss in the League Cup.
Player of the year is the S C from 06-07, with 19 goals in all competitions.
Strikers with 15 and 20 goals moved on, as did my left back (named to the French National team of the year), and a key central midfielder. Big blow to our promotion hopes.
At the end of the season, my board was happy about everything, but disappointed with our performance in the division. Odd, let me tell you.
09-10
Finally the board expect more than just to avoid relegation. Safe mid-table now! We're at 2-1 odds, so they figure we'll be in the hunt again. I'm not so sure, after having lost a lot of key players.
Having problems finding a new left back, but what a shock. Have cover for one lost striker, but nobody wants to join. To compound our problems, last year's player of the year, takes a vicious late tackle in our final pre-season friendly. Broken leg, out 4-7 months.
Finished 5th, 2 points short of promotion yet again. However, that is a bit misleading, because we were eliminated from contention with 2 matches remaining, and we played the 2 sides above us in those, winning both.
Lost in the quarters of the French Cup at PSG, which got us a tidy sum of gate money, and out in the first round of the League Cup. No League Cup next season though, which is nice.
Had 2 players in the Team of the Year, my GK was the starter, and a DM who was also 2nd Runner Up for National Player of the Season, was named to the subs bench. Newly signed 17 year old S C was named Supporters Player of the Year, with 18 goals in just 23 matches as a player filling in for my injured S C.
Much to my delight, Canada went 2-1 in the group stages to advance to the second round of the World Cup, losing 1-0 to Germany. Italy beat The Netherlands for the title.
After the tournament, the CSA fire their coach, wanting to move in a "new direction" and approach yours truly to travel home to lead the national squad! I'll stay on as boss of Cherbourg since I doubt my tenure in charge of Canada will last.
The most consistent update ever. 8th, 4th, 4th, 4th, 5th. You'll gt sacked soon as the board feels a fresh approach will be needed to take the club forward.
