I don't find the game too easy, but the finances are definately not a challenge. A couple of big sales put paid to that pretty early on.

I think you can look for transfer listed players, as this is information freely available to all managers. Here's proof.

http://www.givemefootball.com/transf...roregister.cfm

It's the official site of the PFA. It has a list of ever player for every club who is transfer listed. I'm pretty sure that back in the day this list used to be faxed by the PFA to each club on a monthly or weekly basis.

The question stands do other professional bodies in other countries have such a service. Who knows but I think you're totally within your rights to look for transfer listed players as long as it’s only for players based in the UK and you’re laying a a club from the UK.

That kind of proof isn't necessary, Evo, we know there are lists available in the real life game, we know Cloughie favoured bungs, we know certain players and managers get "incentives" to sign/stay/get lost.

However, they're not available in the game and the point of LLM is to "play as realistically as the game allows."

If we throw away basic LLM beliefs now just for the sake of it we may as well say we have mates who recommend us players and tactics.

It's never been seen as LLM since I started playing and I see no reason to change it now.

I'm not saying we should change our stance but if someone wants to use it then, there's a bit of justification.

as for bungs etc they're thing that do happen but we woundn't want to happen in real life. Therefore the game is better than real life.

Just in the same way ou can;t tel you players to go out and be a olympic standard divers, some managers do in real life but they shouldn;t so the game is btter for it.

I was looking through the PFa list, and one thing I noticed was that it didn't seem to have players outside the football league. That might wreck it for LLMing to start with. What about the player search screen, filtered for transfer listed players in your country? Wouldn't that be the same thing and count as "in the game"?

Just playing the Devil's Advocate here . . .

Evo does have a point if the aim is to 'play as realistically as the game allows', as the game does allow you to get a list of all transfer listed players as per Evo's RL example.

However, I agree with Ian, for maybe different reasons. Along with the 'realism' tag, I get the impression that most people are LLM because they want some depth of challenge. The game constantly teeters on the border between too easy and not. IMO this version is the best balancing act yet, but does err slightly on the easier side should you utilise all the tools the game gives you.

I know that my save would have been a lot easier had I been able to look for players as Evo has suggested, and frankly I don't want that.

Therefore I do think that besides a slavish duty to realism, LLM guidelines should also take into account issues of balance, much as the developers do. If, as in this case, a change to LLM guidelines would unbalance the play too far, then it shouldn't be used.

IMO of course.

I won't do it as I like a challenge.

But people want to play like in real life then transfer lists are avaiable. it's not pure LLM. But it is realistic.

Yep, like I said to the guy, if he thinks it's realistic and scouts the players, then do as he feels.

I'll continue to scout and check players flagged up in the media, LLM's never been about finding ways to make the game easier to me.

I suppose Jiminy Cricket talks to some guys in a different language he speaks to others.
