Season 2014 Sandvikens IF – Division 2 North
After the relegation with Tyresö, I was let go. So I decided to take a vacation until I got a new job. And right before the 2014 season was about to start, Sandviken´s IF wanted me. So I signed a contract for the rest of the season, and took over the team. They had already signed three new players, and played three pre-season games. The first game in charge was a Swedish Cup game against Hammarby TFF. A game we lost on penalties, showing that cups are still for poofs. And after a so-so start to the season, it looked like we were going to be a mid-table team. Then our top striker returned from injury, and I made some changes to the tactics. And voila, we won 8 of the last 13 games giving us a third place in the table.
Our strong finish gave us the second best goal ration in the league, and we finished only 8 points behind the two top teams. Kubikenborg and ÖSK Ungdom tied for the top spot with 46 points each, while we finished third with 38. The top striker, a polish 30 year old who spent most of the season injured, still had 11 goals in 11 starts, and a team high 7.36 rating.
I was also offered a 2-year extension to my current deal with Sandviken, an extension I signed. League: 3rd G22 W11 D5 L6 37-18 (+19) P39 Swedish Cup: 1st round (penalty exit against Hammarby TFF).
