There's no iron-clad rule, OFBG.
It's merely an absolute fact...sorry, opinion...that cups suck @ss.
I've stated my case, I've presented the evidence, it's up to the individual to decide.
I'll only ban them if they disagree |

| The issue isn't whether the cups are worth the hassle. I doubt even Ian would argue that they're worth a punt once you've got no chance of either promotion, relegation or the big ol' boot.
The point is that securing safety or promotion takes precedence over a cup run Every. Single. Time.
As for whether it's realistic to throw a cup match to secure promotion, ask Neil Warnock. Sheffield United did exactly that last season.

I agree, but I also see nothing wrong with trying to put together a strong cup run. Winning a cup saved me from a sacking recently, and some cups provide European football if you win them. The bottom line is the individual squad. If you have some ironmen in the side no reason not to play them in an attempt to win a cup match. It's all down to match condition, fixture congestion etc.

I have NFI what just happened above, and now I can't be arsed to retype the entire things. So,
I agree with you Turnip, promotion/relegation isues take precedence. If those are okay, then nothing wrong with trying for a strong cup run.

Cups suck. They leave your players fatigued or even your key players get injured. So until I get to top level and am achieving at least position in the safe middle there, cups will be played by my 2nd team a.k.a. the losers that don't get much play during the season.
Anyway. I won Serie C1 cup with those type of players once.

I have a weekend and a midweek squad. I don't care what kind of match is thrown in there. If I play on a wednesday, out the midweek unit goes. If I play on Sunday, then it's the weekend unit.
Of course there might be exceptions to this, but as I usually tend to have at least 2 players for each position, that's my approach.

That would be a good prestation in LLM UELLfan, especially if you look at the wage budgets and number of decent players that want to join a LLM club.
