Lurked for a long time, always wanted to do an update, but never managed to find the time. Sorry if it's been done 100 times, but The Shire is a great team to start with. Really enjoing this save.
Game: Football Manager 2006 6.0.3
Leagues loaded: England (Conference North/South And Above), France (First League Only), Germany (First Division Only), Italy (Serie B And Above), Holland (Premier Division Only), Romania (First Division Only), Scotland (Third Division And Above), Spain (Second Division And Above)
Currency: Euros.
Season 1. 2005-2006. East Stirling. Third Division
Board expectations: build a new squad.
Transfers in: 11 players, for a whopping total of 1K.
Transfers out: none.
League: Started pretty well, a lot of draws and only a few defeats, but form slowly started to drop. Found myself for most of the season in last place, but the last few games the team started to play really good, actually managing to win a few games, finishing the season in 9th place.
Cups: what cups? First round exits in all of them.
Finances: pretty good, managed to stay in the black the whole season, mostly because of low wages costs.
Signed a new contract, valid until 2009.
Season 2. 2006-2007. Eeast Stirling. Third Division.
Transfers in: again 11 players, again a total of 1K
Transfers out: 13 players, total 0K
Board expectations: same as the year before.
League Started out better than the year before, only this time, kept our form for most of the season. Helped by a super-40 year old-keeper, we had an excelent season, spending most of it in 1st place. Although we lost a few games towards the end of the season, nobody could stop wining the league and gaining propotion. \o/
Cups: First round exits in the League and Challenge Cup. Managed a 3rd round exit in the Scottish Cup, against Dunfermline, wich brought us a lot of much needed cash.
Finances: Although transfering a shitload of players, managed to keep the wages within the limit set by the board, and with the money from the cups, I am actually able to spend a few euros on crappy players.
Superkeeper retired, leaving me with very few choises for next season.
Season 3. 2007-2008. Eeast Stirling. Second Division.
Transfers in: 8 players, total of 15K. 3 of them were transfered in january.
Transfers out: 10 players, total 1K
Board expectations: stay clear of relegation. With the current squad, and the fact that practicly no one who knew how to spell football wanted to sign for me, I saw this as an impossible task.
Superkeeper replaced with one of the keepers who warmed the bench last season, he really came through for me in the end.
League The worst start of a season I ever had on any CM/FM. In 18 matches only managed to get 8 points. Something wasn't clicking, and I didn't know that it was. A cup tie with a crappy team managed to put us back in the map, winning 5-0 gave us some morale, and somehow we managed to start winning a few games.
With the 3 new transfers over the winter, I started thinking that I could even avoid the drop, but we lost when it mattered the most: 1 game to go, 9th place, 2 points behind Stenhousemuir who were in 8th, which we played at home. 89th minute we were up 2-1. 91th we weren't any more.
Drew Cowdenbeath in the Playoff Semifinal, 2-2 at my place, 1-1 at theirs. We were back in the depths of the Third Division. Shame really, but our early season form cost us a lot.
Cups:
Challenge Cup: 1st round.
League Cup: 2nd round, against Premiership side Hibernian, at my place . Dispached us 3-0.
Scottish Cup: Kilmarnock, managed to draw 0-0 at Firs Park, only to be thrased 3 days later 3-0. Money was excelent though.
Finances: Kept the wages within budget again, but we lost money wvery month, mostly becauyse of the very low attendeces. Money from the cups helped a lot, so I hope no wage cutting next season.
