An 18 year old Spaniard's contract was set to expire at Villareal, I've tried to sign him and offered £20k a week, £6k goal bonus and £6k appearance bonus as well as a rotational position in my Zaragoza team. He instead accepts a £3,800 a week, £375 goal bonus, £1900 appearance bonus with his squad status set to backup...
The player hasn't got a favourite club so why the hell would he reject me?
A number of issues could be causing this:
- Club reputation
- his loyalty attribute
- if he's raised at Villareal, it may have some sort of favourite affect on him, even though the club isn't listed as "Favourite Club"..
Or maybe he has some rich parents, and just wants to stay at Villareal, to enjoy some relaxing football..
True, but at the same time, if he's offered £5k by Wenger and £50k by Ferguson guess who he'd choose? If the contracts were in the same ballpark then he'd choose Wenger but not when the other contract is so much more.
sadly i've had this happen to me recently. in an edited db i have i was playing in the NZ league and offered a contract to an ageing NZ international. my offer was for him to be indispensable to my club and on around $2,500 per week. he rejected my offer to be a first team regular at a non-league club for $350 per week. WTF?
I know it wasn't rep coz it was my db and the NZ league clubs had twice the rep of the new non-league ones, also, he didn't have either of us as his fav clubs.
karma comes around i guess, we played them in a friendly and i told my tank of a dm to mark him, set tackling to hard and injured him for 6 months (was worth the 2 match ban my DM got!)
