Have any of you ever had a leathal striker go from scoring on average a goal a game to almost nothing, and his average rating drop from 7's or 8's to consistant 6's?
I've got two at the moment!!
One is a loan signing who now lists my team (Huddersfield) as one of his favorites and the other is proud of the club's league position (we made the play offs and won the Johnstones paint Trophy), so it's not that they're unhappy at the club.
In fact winning the JPT was thepoint everything dried up. Until then they were leathal.... After it they were terrible!
In match I've tried encouraging them, being upset with them and just leaving them with the default overall team talk.
In training I've tried increasing their attacking and shooting training intensity..... And when that had no effect I tried reducing it.
I've even tried screaming "What is your problem????" at the PC monitor...... That didn't help either.
If you've had strikers go off the boil like this and found a way to get them back into form again, can you tell me what you did?
All 4 of my strikers just "couldn't hit a barn door" all of a sudden. I have taken to standing on the desk and kicking a football at the monitor, in a vain attempt at showing them (didn't work).
Seriously any help in this department would be appreciated.
having the same issue. Torres scored 28 goals in all comps by February and then went 12 games without scoring again. Jeremy Menez although not as prolific initially is currently going through a very bad patch as well. I know these things happen in real life so im not too fussed but i do keep seeing messages from the press about players like Rooney, Drogba, Defoe and Tevez all going more than 10 hours without a goal.
This probably belongs in the Tactics forum... But here's what I know, anyway:
When it happens I usually try to provide my striker balls from different angles of the pitch. For example, if he always misses on one-on-ones with the keeper, I try to bring him a little down the pitch, for a one-two, or even tell my wingers to try and cross as many balls as they can.
If he's short and has good finishing and can't deal with crosses, or he's weak and not aggressive enough, then I like to put a creative forward behind him to put get him some one-on-ones.
If nothing helps then I just let him rest for a while, and after 3-4 games I put him on as a sub for a few games... If he's starting to do well again then he gets his place in the first team again.
It's also annoying when you buy strikers in and they couldn't score in a brothel.
I've just bought this chap from Villareal, 30+ goals in 22 games. His actual stats are excellent, many 17 - 20's. Cost me £15m too.
He just doesn't seem to be able to score in "normal" games. Really horrific attempts, yet if I put him in reserve games or friendlies, he scores a boatload.
Will he come good or will he as Roy Keane says, "Be an expensive flop"?
Who know, but with stats like that, he better come good!
(And yes, I did scout him first and he was recommended )

Thanks for the advice mate. I'll give those ideas a go next season.
As it is I managed to sneak through the play offs thanks to a good defence and a couple of goals from midfielders. Beat Brighton 2-1 (aggregate score) in the semi's and Crewe in the play off final (on penalties)....... (Not that anyone cares.... Just felt like bragging!! )
