None of us hate yourselves or the game, we are just desperate for the patch so we can play the game as well as it ever is. Take the complaints as a compliment! If it was any other game i wouldn't be bothered! But because it's Footy Manager its a different story. Thanks again for the info on the patch. Hope to see it when it's ready!
| Could not of put it better myself!

I've had no success. I've tried so many tactics its untrue. Every single time, the results are poor. I bought the game on day of release, and i've perserved, constantly hoping it would all fit together and begin to work.
But it hasnt. As far as I am concerned, it is totally unplayable.
And thats why tommmorrow morning I am taking it back for a refund.
| You are getting a refund because you are a crap manager. Nothing else. Me and many with me are having success with our clubs despite the bugs.
To say you dont enjoy the game because of the bugs are fair enough. Go get your refund. But dont blame your uselessness on SI...

It took me a week to create a tactic, and I'm storming it. Its completely playable. Any game that makes me pace up and down the room screaming at lickle round pixel players is a success in my eyes.
As long as I'm punching the air in delight at the final whistle, rather than drying the players hair.

| I've been doing well with Pompey at 6th in my first season as at March 2008. I also have Benjani as theleading scorer in the premiership, not unlike real life!
Why not give it another go using Portsmouth and I can tell you how I've used a formation in my opinion best suited to the players plus some of the tactics I employ, I use a few and vary individual tactics based on opposition players and attributes. Its no super tactic else i'd be top but I am having success and that with the beta
Perhaps the process of walking some aspect through with you might help you adjust your approach to tactics in general so that you could gain your own success with a team of your own choice.
Like many here I've been playing since the Amiga days and have bought each one.
I'm no expert as I've yet to win a Champions League Final despite all these years of playing (well its only been recent times that Pompeyhave had a decent squad and money bags chairman!)
Anyways its up to you, it may just persuade you to hang on to the piece of FM gold!

I don't normally read these forums, but I've been reading through some posts today and I am absolutely shocked.
I've played a few seasons on FM08, and I think the game is absolutely perfect. I couldn't think of one thing wrong with it before I read some of the posts on here. I can't believe how much you people whinge! you're pathetic(not all of you).
This game is absolutely awesome, I think there may be some slightly obsessive people on here who need to take a 'couple' of days break from the game and just relax a bit.

Miles, other SI fellows,
Is there a reason the WWSM Mac beta patch is unavailable? Is that a broken link, or have you guys pulled it from the site for some reason?
I was hoping to download the elusive Second Beta Patch for my WWSM Mac setup, because the original beta patch did actually have a showstopping, makes the game unplayable bug -- clicking on any players coach report would crash the game. (I reported it in the bugs forum, some playtester said you guys had reproduced it and were on the case.)

| Your post could easily get lost in here, I'd suggest starting a new thread |

Something less annoying - that's not what I've said at all. Quite the opposite in fact. And I love that many of the community are rabid and passionate because, well, most of us at SI are too when it comes to the game.
| Well, feel free to speak for SI, but I'm not sure if the fanbase would be similarly pleased with being described as rabid: "Irrationally extreme", "furious or raging; violently intense", or "affected with or pertaining to rabies". None really much of a compliment imo. |

I just hope SI are aware that more and more people are now expecting there to be problems and either won't purchase the game or play the game until the first patch is released.
Having to release a patch every year for the last 3-4 years to solve 'major' issues in the game out of the box I don't think is something to be proud of. The patch should really be released to tweak minor things, not solve show stopping bugs or major gameplay bugs.
It is a good job though that this game, when fixed, is head and shoulders above the competition.

socceroonie - I was informed of that issue yesterday, and passed it on. Please see the earlier comment about how it takes a long time to build the patches. I was expecting it to be live at some point today, so will raise it again with the relevant person tomorrow, or tonight if he's back online.
