And I see a lot of guys saying stuff in here about "the competition". What is the competition I ask you. Is is CM, is it EA's manager? Lol, this isn't competition, just how many of you would go playing those games if something would go wrong with the game (as I think, something did go wrong this year) ? See, that's my point, this is not a competition, this is a monopoly more or less. And if I come to realise this m so did the management of SI and rest assured (if I may say so) but they will to everything they can to profit from this. The first proof being the profits"by hundreds of percent" as Miles just said.

Its not like SI have kidnapped all other programmers and coders and locked them in basement is it? Theres no comp, because building and developing a game of this extraordinary detail with its various complexities is quite obviously pain painstakingly difficult. Other companies prefer to dress their games up in gimmicks and cosmetics. SI don't and never have and the day they sell-out is the die FM will die. But because of their quite obvious (and disturbing) love for this game, they don't look likely to sell out.

I think its very cheap and lazy on your part to suggest that SI cant be arsed because theres nothing else out there that people would buy as an alternative.

In fact, if they were the lazy ones, you wouldn't get a patch or the type of on-going support they provide.

Enough with the conspiracies.

Miles make two patches one for people who like the challenge and one where you win every game ten nil every player wants to join you and you never get the sack for the moaning I can't win I want my money back boys. For £18 I bet even they have played over 2 hours of game time so its stil cheaper than going to a Premier League Game.
You've got a point.

Not posted much on here for ages, as I seem to have less time these days.

Been a bit surprised by some of the feedback.

I've been playing the beta patch a fair bit though, and apart from a 5-5 draw with Bournemouth (I'm Bristol City) in a friendly, I've found that the match engine is pretty realistic. In this game virtually every chance went in, concluded by a beauty of an own goal from Fontaine whose backpass went straight over Basso's foot, Paul Robinson Croatia style.

I just put it down to one of those days/games...they do happen IRL, but it made me think about my defensive settings, and how protective my MCs needed to be. Perhaps they were a little exposed???

So far, I've only played pre-season and 5 league and 2 cup games, but the match engine stands up well IMHO.

My previous criticism of FM versions has the been the high ratio of goals scored by strikers, but I know I'm only part way into the season, my goals are being shared around nicely...which supports my tactic. In the past it hasn't seemed to matter who I've played up front, they all seem to score at a good goals to game ratio...all around the 1:2 mark or higher.

This version, Trundle really struggled in the first 4 games, so I rested him for the League Cup tie, (I told him so and he wasn't convinced) but he came back and notched 2 in the next league game. Byfield is struggling to fit in, even though IRL and in FM I think he'd be a good foil for Trunds. He's only scored a pen and that was in the League Cup. Jevons has done well off the bench, and responded to a starting place by notching against Brum in the cup 2nd round, whereas Shuwunmi has got 2, one from the bench and a couple of starts. His reward for the equaliser from the bench was a start against Brum....where leading 2-1 with 15 mins to go, he got sent-off. BCFC went out on pens. Another one of those things.

My midfielders have chipped in...Wilson 2, McIndoe 1, Skuse 1, Sproule 1, so I'm quite happy.

So from the match engine POV I'm happy.

The rest of he game appears slick and processes quickly. Thought about buying some RAM for FM08, but don't need it IMHO. I like the move to reserves features, which worked nicely to bring Brooker back to fitness.

Next thing to work on is a training regime for my hardworking MCs....they need to get through a lot each 90 mins, bless them!!

I'll keep playing the patch....its no showstopper for me.

Damn it, stop being so efficient with your posts. Give one of the fanboys a chance to reply in your defence next time. You're monopolising all the buzz words.

junkie I appreciate your wit, but how about dropping that phrase.
I actually find it offensive, especially as I spend some part of every single day criticising some aspect of FM or FML.

I also give Miles more stick over a week than this forum does in a day, so please find a more appropriate label
