The way things work here is that the different areas of the game are split into modules, and different teams of people work in those different areas, with the lead in each area talking to the other leads to ensure it all fits in. A bit like a giant jigsaw puzzle. Those areas are all pretty specialised, so the dev process isn't really a case of taking all, say, the media guys and putting them on a different area to improve that more. Therefore each area inside the game improves each year, rather than throwing the kitchen sink into one specific area.

You have made some valid points though, which will no doubt get noted by the QA guys, and brought up in a future features meeting (if they are not already noted) at which point we vote about what will go into the next game as a "squad".
It would be interesting to know how much this approach has developed from the early days when we used to get a completely new version of the game every few years (i.e. we had CM1 then updates for 92-93, 93-94 and 94-95 before CM2 was released) but since the first version of FM (which was fairly similar to CM4 anyway) we have just had new features each year but with the same basic engine behind the game. Do you think there will ever be an "FM2" or is the development model now so different that this will never happen?

Zodiak - if you think you've found some bugs, please post in the threads in the bug forum if you haven't already. They do get looked at by the QA team, and get escalated if they think it's a problem.

conno36 - have you read this years manual? It's much better. The changes in the match engine wouldn't change anything that's in there.

Spiveym - skill

I tend to build a good young squad in my first season combined with a few old heads. By the time I get into the Prem, the young players have matured enough. Sell one of them for big money and buy a few squad players, stay up for the first couple of seasons in the Prem playing quite defensively and going for the breakaway goal, and when they've got a bit more confidence and get better, play more attacking.

It won't work for everyone, but works for me well.

spy#10 - there won't be an FM2, no. We build on FM a lot more each year than used to happen with the CM updates.

Finally some news on the whereabout of the patch!

Thanks a lot Miles and all the SI team.

Is the training "BUG" a real bug? Or is it people overeacting.

Personally I like to see green arrows

I have been playing the game on and off from release downloading the patches etc. Is there a problem with the game NOT ACCORDING TO MY WIFE who hasn't really seen me since the game came out. When I lose I got my tactics wrong played the wrong players, when my goalie came out further than both my centre backs and got robbed I lossed the game human error thats quite realistic. Miles make two patches one for people who like the challenge and one where you win every game ten nil every player wants to join you and you never get the sack for the moaning I can't win I want my money back boys. For £18 I bet even they have played over 2 hours of game time so its stil cheaper than going to a Premier League Game.

Thx for the update miles!

I do think you should consider handling any patches in the same way in the future. Open up a tread like this and update regularly (1-2 times a week, whatever suits you at the time) This would reduce the negative posts and silence all the rumours thats always floating around these forums.
Anyways keep up the good work!

PaulC - get back to fixing things please. Your false comments are about as welcome as when I come round to your house and jump up and down on the sofa, wearing shoes, whilst you're in the kitchen...

Waiting, moaning, enjoying, playing.....
