Miles, thank you for the post! As you may have read in the previous thread, SI is like a "family" to me so I really appreciate your trying to explain and clarify the situation.

But I would still like to point out, without ever attacking you or being a dick, that the closing down bug isn't fixed as of the latest beta patch. Tested it with MU, Rangers, Nott Forest, Verona and Schalke using a standard 4-4-2 tactic with PRESET individual instructions for each position (i.e. those that were created by you) most of the time. Of course, I tried tweaking the instructions (mostly changing man marking to zonal and vise versa). What I'm trying to say, is that I tested the game with as less extreme tactic as possible. Everything standard.

The results have been poor... Not sure how it compares with the unpatched version, but the bug is certainly there.

Another issue I've been eager to point out for quite a long time now is... I'll try to explain.

Most of the time, when a player is in a good position to pass the ball and his teammate is almost certain to score, he doesn't pass the ball. Instead, he shoots. From awkward positions. The most basic example is when you have two strikers on one GK and the striker with the ball has to just pass the ball to the other stiker, who will be facing an open goal and just has to tap the ball in. But in FM stikers rarely, if ever, do that. Instead they shoot. From very very awkward positions and angles. Same thing with wingers and any other players. And it has nothing to do with tactics, because it's been there since FM 07 (or maybe earlier) and I've used hundreds of tactics and instructions. This is just one weird thing... Nothing major, but sometimes it's just unreal how they refuse to pass the ball.

is there going to be a new manual printed? posted? because by the sounds of it the match engine has been completly redesigned. I find the manual completely useless especially when i know it has been patched.

wow what bs. i played the game for ONE day, and couldnt stand it so i was waiting alllllll this time for an official patch................. an awesome i have to wait longer. woulda made sense not to buy the damn game in the first place.

I wouldnt say thats a bug, you only needed to come to the Emirates Stadium last year and you would have had the same frustration with Arsenal. To be honest we may be top of the league this year but it still can be very frustrating to watch at times when they take the wrong decision, its just not noticed as much as more goals are going in.

dirty1982dec - the last time I had a "holiday" was the Xmas after Fm2005 came out. I got bored within 3 days, and ended up phoning the local distributor, and doing a PR tour.

Thankfully Heroes series 2 hasn't started here yet. But yes, I do have Sky+, and it's how I watch all TV.

GBS - PES on PS3 is a good example (360 version is fine). Hellgate London another one. I could go on, but it would be unfair of me.

Projektion - it was worse for FM07.

Younger Crayola - oh well. One less sale for us then.

I know from my own work experiance, that people outside my industry don't understand compleatly what I have to do, even though they think they do! So they assume it's very easy to do.

In this case, I am the one of those people looking at your work and thinking "That's easy to do"

Miles how have you managed to get into the Champions League with Watford. I struggle to survive relegation from the Prem in the third season with Palace, conceding over 120 goals.

Tips please.
