After my first season with Barcelona it's now time to lose players to the Under 23 Olympics. Argentinian coach decided that he still needed Messi, whatever. The real shocker though was when a 28 year old Xavi was called up to the spain Under 23 squad to replace Raul Garcia. Clearly a bug and he'll be missing some games for me because of it, though I found it more comical than anything.

Aren't Olympic squads allowed one over 23 player from their nation?

If that's the case then it could just be a slight naming...idiosyncracy.

I'm fairly certain that when the 2012 Olympics went to London some people on Radio 5 were speculating that Rooney might JUST still squeeze into the squad.

Definitely Not a bug.
U23 Squad can have up to 3 players older than 23 years old.

I'm sure many players also want to be Olympic game gold medalist!

If thats the case I guess they weren't using all of their over 23 players because the person he replaced was like 21. Seems a weird name for a tournament though if it's not to be taken literally.
