Default FM Add-On Wiki

I think it's time we set up a wiki as a central place for FM Add-Ons.

I think this would make it easier for people to find the add-ons they want and for the creators to collaborate much better so we get more add-ons.

I haven't started anything up yet but I thought I'd post here and get people's opinions on the idea, suggestions etc. If anyone is really keen to be a part of this then send me an email at peteremcc at gmail

I envisage a Wiki with different categories for the different types of add-ons and then those further divided up into styles of those add-ons.

Each add-on can have its own page with info about it, installation instructions, links/credits to the creator and a link to download.

There could potentially be problems with linking to people's add-ons so obviously we'd check for permission but if it really gets going i'm sure we'll get loads of people on board.

Anyway, this is something I would want and would find very useful and i'm sure lots of other people would too.

Let me know what you think.

Oh and if people are interested then I'm sure we can have pages for instructions on making your own graphics and add-ons.

I haven't created anything myself yet but as it's a wiki, everyone is welcome to contribute their skill knowledge etc etc

The more I think about this, the better it sounds.

The talk page for each add-on could be used discussion/rating/reviews of those add-ons.

There is a web site totally dedicated to FM graphics etc already. There are some of the scenes best graphics makers alreay joined, and content is being added everyday, exclusivly for the site too.
More people are joining everyday also, and once word spreads even more, we expect this site to really take off in the new year.

I don't mean to sound rude Frankie but I personally feel a Wiki style resource for FM would be a brilliant addition to the community and may help it flourish to a greater extent than it already is.

Peter, I hope you get this idea off the ground I hope it's something you start as I for one would use it.

If the OP can give good examples of what a wiki would offer that we don't already have then i'd consider it.

As it is now I can't evisage it adding anything.

There are alrady lots of places for people to download add-ons and find guides for making their own graphics, however, one place where people can go to find these links categorised neatly might be a good idea.

Is this a bit like the community downloads project?

Well, essentially somewhere like sortitoutsi is a one stop place to go - everything catagorized (fairly) neatly etc. It's fairly safe to say they are the most popular site and have the most content. If you are a graphics maker and want your work to be seen then you'll upload it there.

Some content might fall through the gaps yes, but that would happen with a wiki type thing too.

Plus imagine you are a site owner and something like this starts direct linking to your downloads, bypassing all your advertising banners/other content. That's not good - those sites would be rendered nothing more than download servers.
