At the moment I am using the Groove 2.0 skin (by Rosenberg) for FM'06. I find this a very attractive skin, where there isn't too much or too little of anything. It is just fine. I also think that it is very well suited for using multiple different backgrounds.
I have some questions about using other backgrounds, I couldn't get satisfying answers in previous topics yet.
OK, here they are:
1.
In FM 2006, I would like to know if it is possible to have a backgroundpack that is skin-independent, so that I have the same backgrounds whatever skin I select. This is not most important, (as I mostly use the original skin and the groove skin), but seems very convenient to me, though. I don't know if it can be done, but like playerpictures and clublogo's are skin-independent, I assume there is away to achieve this too. Perhaps by making a file in the CProgram Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2006\data\skins-folder? Or isn't it really possible and do I just copy a file to every skin?
2.
Furthermore, I would like to know what resolution works best for my backgrounds. I used a 1024 x 768 resolution (for which I edited a 1600 x 1200 picture), which worked well, but an original (not resised) 1600 x 1200 picture seemed to work fine too. (I always download pictures in their highest resolution, when I can choose from multiple resolutions for the same picture. I hope this makes the picture quality better.) I suspect the best resolution for FM has something to do with the fact that there are so many different screens in this game, and when playing "in windowed mode" the screen has some different sizes, due to the users preferences. I have a 17" monitor. Perhaps someone else has a 15"or 21" screen. So what works best?

Gamespeed. I believe gamespeed can change due to the graphics that are used. How does a background related to that? How does using multiple backgrounds related to that? This is were the graphics cashe comes in, right? OK, so loading times are minimised with this, but how about using a multitude of pictures, and in this case, backgrounds. With the cashe on, what happens to the speed if I use more than 1 background?
4.
For this backgroundpack I would like to have the following backgrounds that appear when a particular screen is displayed. This screens could be related to:
- My overview
----- (my own picture (when possible also as playerpicture) or the team(s) that I am currently managing)
- Teams (Clubs, National teams, and their respective youth teams)
----- (different screens for squad, fixtures and tactics / line-up)
- Cups and leagues
----- (different screens for league- / groupstandings, cupdraws, matchday fixturelists, Finals)
- Matches
----- (Friendlies, rivalmatches, match selected by media)
- Players
----- (different screes when clicked via clubteam, when clicked via national team)
- Other screens and media-itmes
----- (player search and shortlist, training, jobs, worldtransfers, scouting, history, managerranking)
- All not linkable screens
----- Same picture everywhere in this case, or multiple random selected pictures
Which of the above "background-wishes" is possible to achieve? And where do I find the id's to link to? (I know how to make id's visible in the game, but not all those things have different id's (that are viewable) I think.)
5.
Can the backrounds be changed everytime I click on continue, like it was in former FM/CM games?
6.
What is the most convenient way to make sure all those things do work (the possible one's ofcourse)?
