I have been working on a couple of very successful tactics(so far) for quite a while now and I'm very pleased with the progress they are making! For the record I've been using a 3-4-3 and a 3-4-1-2.
I feel, however, that a decent corner routine would make these tactics nigh perfect(or as close as dammit!!).
I've messed about with trying to come up with a few routines myself, but none have really worked for me.
I know all about the near post and back post corner routines I've seen posted across various forums - but they're not very realistic and it's always the same guy that scores all the goals from corners.
Does anyone have any clues as to how I could maybe get a more realistic corner routine with the possiblity of maybe more than ONE SAME SCORER?!!
All ideas and help would be greatly appreciated.
Set your corners to mixed, make sure the corner taker is two footed, has high ratings in corners crossing and technique. This means he will be fairly consistant and accurate in his delivery and can inswing as well as he can out swing.
Finally posistion players with high long shots to lurk outside the box, jumpers on the near post, poachers on the back post.
Don't think it will be as consistant as a one trick corner routine set up correctly, but it would provide the dynamic approach to corner routines that you want.
I've also tried to set up a fairly realistic corner routine recently that like Leroy1883 has suggested had the players with high long shot attributes lurking, those with a good leap went front post and challenged the GK, while my nippy poacher, was put in the 6 yard box to feed from scraps. I've found it no more or less successful than when I left well alone.
My main isse though is with the lack of goals my CBs get from said routine. Both are sent forward, one of whom is the guy who challenges the GK and yet last season they managed 1 goal between them. Both are 6 footers and dominant in the air so why the lack of goals?
There are loads of threads on the near post flick routine, if your strikers are that dominant in the air then you are bound to get a shed load of goals from him.
I have Steve Elliot for my Vauxhall team and he usually finishes 3rd top scorer behind my strikers.
well, i do it like this:
-2 strong central defenders, best headers ....near post
-one player to disturb the goalkeeper
-1 to 3 players stay back (back, back if needed)
-4 or less players(depends on how many stay back) somewhere in the box (try to put them far away from the near post as they will make room and take AI players away from the near post)
why is it good:
defence usually puts a small defender on the near post, and then your strong players must only beat the players which are marking them, i tried it with Alex(master of corner scoring) and Davies and it worked well. together around 20 goals per season.
you can also try it with omly one player on the near post
!!!!!corner balls must be directed on the near post!!!!!!!!!!(bale is very good for doing it on the right side)
