November 2020 <STRIKE>Esbjerg fB</STRIKE>

Ouch.
We had a seasonstart so bad it was worse then most nightmares. For starters we lost the SuperCup to FC København, but that was only a Cup. League was worse; we lost our first five matches in a row and even after 16 of the 33 matches we didn't escape from the relegationzone. Board confidence dropped, dropped, dropped even further and then on a dark November day I got the sack.

Looking back a reason might be that my first team was too big with a relatively large number of new players in it so they didn't have enough time to get together as a team. Team losing moral very quickly after the lousy start also playing a role ofcourse. Besides the transfers I also promoted 2 youngsters to the first team, both were doing fine though. Young belgian striker scored 10 goals in 16 matches, 8 of those goals in cupgames.

Did okay so far in the UEFA Cup so far, after beating two eastern European teams we qualified for the Group Stages in a group with Sevilla, AZ, Inter and Levski Sofia.

Did fine in the Royal League where we had won all our games played so far (3 in the first group stage)

Ah well. Time to send out my (crappy) resume.

Got a new job!

Strømsgodset IF is my next victim. They are playing in the Norwegian Premier Division.

Squad is not too big and might need some improvements here and there but we'll see.

Stadium is okay (12.2k) but training could need an upgrading.

Odd Fact:
- Strømsgodset are in the same Royal League Group as Esbjerg fB so I'm gonna play my old team pretty quickly.

Bring on the new season \o/

This has been a very good story so far, but just turned soooo much more interesting as "Godset" is my local team.

Too bad they`re not in Premier division IRL....

Good luck

Strømsgodset IF / Ghana 2021

Board was so nice to upgrade the training facilities at the beginning of the season so that's a start.

Season started with some Royal League matches where we did only semi-nice but it was enough to proceed to the second group stage. Won the first two games there, drew the 3rd and a single point against AGF was enough to secure the final. WE LOST! . Their only 3 points in the second stage .. I played Esbjerg fB 3 times and we achieved a 1-1-1 record. Esbjerg fB made it to the final (I never got them there ) and even managed to win the Cup.

First half of the league season was a win here and a loss there. Second half of the season started outstanding: 6-0-0 (22-5) but we totally collapsed after that: 1-3-3 (6-8) so we dropped to a final 4th position which was enough to make the board delighted though.

Norwegian Cup? Yup it does exist and No I don't want to talk about it.
Played one single round in the Intertoto Cup as well.

Team had 3 major disadvantages the whole season: a constant major injury crisis (upto 8 players at once) and a bit too much non-eu players where one can field only 2 at the same time in Norway. Thirdly the amount of stikers is a bit Kostis' like.
So what did I do besides luring some normal players? I signed a few more non-eu's and another striker is coming at the end of the season

One of the new players was the ex-Bunkeflo IF, ex-Esbjerg fB Swedish DMC who did fine again. At this moment he's 30 and have played 292 matches for me at 3 different clubs. During the season also a young Serbian D/DMLC from Esbjerg fB was added. But it's clear to me that Strømsgodset is having a lower reputation as it's more difficult to attract the better players.

Got the Ghana job in July and only needed 1 point from 2 matches to qualify for the WorldCup which we did. Wahey!
Next year will start with the African Cup of Nations where we are defending our title.
