Default Scouting question

OK, let's see if a LLaMa posting newbie can ask this without getting drawn and quartered by the more experienced LLaMa's...

Is there any LLaMa acceptable way to scout areas that you have staff or players from if it's not SWYCT or SYB? I know from following American soccer that there are times when a player or coach brings in players he knows from his home, even though there's no way the team could have sent a scout to check him out in his home country (For example, *** A Jockish Coach*** reccomending a Scottish player to the Houston Dynamo last week).

Would having somebody from a country make it acceptable under LLama rules to scout the country, even if it's not SYB or SWYCT? My Conference North team has an Aussie for example, could I scout Australia?

And before anyone says "It's your game, do what you want" I'm asking about the accepted LLaMa rules.

Speaking for myself, I wouldn't do it. First off because it isn't financially realistic. You are a small part-time club with a scout on probably £20 a week or so. The costs to send him over, pay him a living wage while he's there plus expenses, and also hope he gets time off from his day job- you see where I am going with this.

Second, that doesn't really simulate word of mouth recommendation very well, since your scout will (according to the db settings you are using) potentially find dozens of players on all sorts of geographically diverse teams.

Third, how many Australian players are you really going to be able to lure over for a part-time contract in a weak league?

Others will have their own objections I am sure, but at least these three things make it unrealistic to me.

You can stretch a SWYCT or SYB to the countires with historical links with the country you play in, provided you have a scout from the country you want to scout

Did I? The one name I mentioned was a coach. I suppose that could be a no-no as well. If somebody wants to edit my post to remove it, please do.

We don't know he's a coach, necessarily. Ian may, but I have no idea about the majority of Scottish coaches or their names.

It's a grey area, because while I'd never recommend going with prior knowledge by me, the guy at the computer (knowing something from a past save or from real life), I do use the prior knowledge of me, the guy in the game (signing guys I managed at other clubs earlier in the save).

Really good question, btw, imho.
