I've had a strict regime of never giving full-time contracts to players while the club is semi-pro. Now wages are rising, and it seemes unlikely to have a part-time deal when some players demand over 1K/w. So I'm thinking of actively trying to get my players on full-time contracts, and begging the board to upgrade our status as the money's rolling in etc (Who would've thought it in N.Ireland!)
I'm wondering what you poofs are doing. Do you try to get full-time contracts right from the start? When do you actively try to move over to full-time contracts?
I also looked up the average wage in the UK. Apparently it is about £25,000 a year (Probably big differences though). Players with at least £500 a week should then be able to manage fine on full-time contracts.
If you want extra realism, you can offer full-time contracts for African players or players who cannot speak English properly for even £20/week. Also make sure that you fine them regularly and release them for no reason after a year.

Go on. Make me feel like a poor cnut, why don't you?
Poof.
But seriously, in London (and some other big cities) you'd need a salary of ~£15k to have a reasonably decent single life. (Eg. 1-bed flat, not out on the razz too often, cheapo Tesco food etc).
Average wages are entirely misleading though. Take out say, Richard Branson, (or any other similar sort of guy) and his huge wedge and it drops considerably.
Pangaea - I'd hazard a guess that some of the young pros at Norwich only make your lower wage there, and they probably do better than many full time League 2 players.

I refute this completely.
I hold a degree and a middle management job, and I don't even earn that (albeit up North, where wages are less but the women are loose )
You can't tell me that the great unwashed are all earning that amount of money on average. Most people I know without a degree are earning £10-£12k, and those with anywhere between £16-£40k.
