Also I don't believe that any manager or scout woudl recommend a player or even sign one based on some details and a single match he visited.

You've heard of video, right? They even have new fangled video recorders these days.
Plus, don't scouts generally recommend players based on single viewing or two? It seems unlikely that a scout would track a single Conference South player all over England before recommending him.

| Yes I did and untill it is implemented in FM, you can't claim you watched a video if you clicked on view on some game, because that match has no final result when you watch it and thus is not videotaped. Quote:

| Don't know about conference N/S, but IMHO, scouts do follow that player in match and training for some time. It deminishes the possibility of mistake.

IRL, some players are signed on an agent's recommendation, sometimes with a cleverly edited video supplied. Souness did so with a North African who came on as a substitute and was then substituted moments later when he found out the guy couldn't play!

| What do you mean it has no final result, and how does that mean it was not videotaped? Not that I've ever done it, but if someone wants to spend their time watching other matches to spot players I don't see problem with it. It's probably more realistic in game terms than the calculations of numbers that is the scouting "system"

| If memory serves sombody phoned him up pretending to be a famous football player, and said they were sending the nephew over or somthing like that, You would think that Souness might have at least watched him during the warm up. But then maybe that is why he got sacked. |

I remember reading about that in the short lived FM magazine that came out

| That was Africa's best ever player's cousin.
It also reminds me of the Mike Bassett TV series, where Bassett was sent a video of a Dutch player, Van Needlemans*. Bassett was truly impressed by the striking display in the video and promptly remortgaged his house to sign him for Wirral County.
Van Needlemans* was the goalkeeper.
*It's a TV show, he's not actually a player for those who've never seen the show.
