Also, I tend to change tactics every 1-2 years, because I've signed a great player who doesn't fit my tactic, or because a key player left the team without proper substitution in the squad.

You could always try Simon's Spaghetti Junction Tactic from the Zealot Game, where his players were just as confused as mine whenever my two teams met.

Yep. That's what I do. Normally when starting a new game though I'll pick a standard tactic that suits the, ah, players and tweak that and take it from team to team, not as a saved tactic, just the formation and some instructions.

I change my tactic about 20 times a season.

I pick the best eleven players available and fit the formation around them for every match.
