Default King of the Beaches

As the title suggests I decided my challenge would be to have the best seaside team. So I decided I'd go with Weston-Super_mare.

After accessing the squad I realised there was little talent except for a decent ml, mc, mr and a half decent striker. The squad was in need of numbers and a complete overhaul.

So I sent my scout off through the depths of England. And through his suggestions I signed
the following

GK
DR
DL
DC x2
MC
ATT x2.

I was fairly happy with my squad and thought Mid-table would be success.

After a slow start with 1 point from the first 4 games. Things picked up. And I respectable finish of 10th which I was quite suprised about.
With my new striker grabbing 21 league goals and an avr of 7.36. My other striker was a complete flop scoring 6 goals with 37 apps with an avr of 6.36 who was kindly sent on his way at the end of the season.

English Conference South 2006/2007

Sven Was a hero as England won the world cup 3-0 against the Ivory Coast!

I signed a Contract extension until 2008 on £80 pounds a week (don't quit the day job)

Board Expectations: Stay Clear of Relegation

My Expectations: Playoff's

Transfer Budget: A massive £0

My Defence was relatively young and inexperinced So I brought in a DLC (my scout was very excited about him!)
I made him Player-Coach which was also a bonus.

I brought in a young 19 yo Striker on a free. And due to lack of goals I signed a 25 yo AMC also on a free.

I released 3 youngsters SC, DRC, MC.

We started the season well with 7 points from the first 3 games. And by middle of November we were top with a game in hand. My star striker got injured with a broken arm (2 months out). And than in that time we got 11 points from a possible 27. Which dropped us down to 9th and 4 points away from the playoffs. Our Star man Strker and captain than returned and fired our season back into life with 6 goals in 4 games. And we won 4 on the bounce. We were back up to fourth. And 7 points off the top of the table. But 6th place Cambridge City were just 3 points behind us. Out form was up and down like a yo yo and with 2 games left we were 7th 4 points away from 5 th place.

We would need Cambridge City to lose both games for us to sneak into the playoff's. Luckily the had 2 tough games versus Newport County and League Leaders Weymouth.

We had Carshalton (H) and Maidenhead (A).

We thrashed Carshalton 4-1 with 21 shots to there 1! With Cambridge losing 3-0 away to weymouth.

And than away to maidenhead we were 1-0 down after 3 miutes but luckily my veteran Centre back popped up on the stroke of half time with a bullet header. Maidenhead were all over us hitting the bar and post, but our goalkeeper made 3 great saves to keep us in it.

with 5 minutes left our star striker smashed in a free-kick from the edge of the area. And somehow we won the game with maidenhead's 11 shots to our 3. Weymouth Drew 1-1 with newport meaning we had made the playoff's just by only a point.

I thought we would carry over our momentum into the playoff's how wrong was I. we lost to our main Rivals Newport 2-1 at home, and than away from home we lost 3-0.

Cups: Lost in the first rounds in both cups to both unheard of teams, and both at home 2-1

Conference South 2007/2008

Board Expectations: Mid Table

My expectations: Playoff's

Pre-season was very good for the Seagulls i sold my DL for 10K. Of which i was allowed to keep 4k. I spent 3k on a striker with who scored 2 goals against us in a pre-season friendly, Who came to my scouts attention nearly a year ago. My star striker signed a two year extension, I was also chuffed to notice I was his favoured personnel and super mare was his favoured club. I forgot to mention last season he scored 29 league goals with an avr of 7.63. Which prompted a 85k bid from maccelsfield and Sheff Wednesday which I declined.

My left winger wanted to move a bigger club, I offloaded him for 40k to Rotherham. And replaced him with one of my trailist's who had impressed me during pre-season. I spent 5k on a young DC from Fisher. And signed a MC (back up) MR (rotation) DC(backup) and a AM/FC (rotation) All on free's. Which left me with 6k spare just in case I would need this during January. It turned out I would not need this, after 3 games we were top and stayed all the way through the season.

My strikers scored a combined total of 53 goals between them in the league. With my skipper scoring 31 and my youngster 3k striker made a good impact scoring 22 league goals.

We blitz the league, which I was really chuffed about as it had been hard work up until this point. But I felt so much more was acheived winning the confrence south than for example winning a champions league with Chelsea.

This is my first post so any pointers feel free to comment. I forgot to post my average attendances were as follows

05/06 379
06/07 521
07/08 721

Pos 1st P42 W24 D11 L11 Points 86F84 A39

Wining the league by 8 points with 2 games left.

Grimsby's ground is technically in Cleethorpes which is a seaside town.

Good work, Jimbo. Have you just got Poofland loaded, or have you loaded other countries for more seaside domination?
