They had a couple of decent seasons in the Second League - one of their strikers has the record for most goals in the season - but now they're back in the 2nd Div B.

"Back" in D2B? IRL (and at the beginning of the game ofc) they're a solid mid-table 2nd league side, so D2B is bad news

Season 5 (2012/2013): Naval
Released a bunch of young players who were carp (minor exception a striker who's now a first-pick at Haarlem) and a handful of slightly older duffers. Signed a Brazilian lump up front for £500k and a defender for £1m. Picked up my usual raft of freebies including (yet) another DM who was good enough for first-team football. Also paid small fees for a ML and a GK touted as the next [juvekeeper].

Portuguese League: Started off decently, including a 1-1 draw away at eventual champions Benfica. That soon slipped into a win-lose pattern that lasted until the winter break. God's kid brother signed for Sporting on the 2nd Jan and got a MoM on his debut as we lost 4-0 away. The next games speak for themselves: 1-4, 1-1, 0-3, 1-3, 0-3, 1-3. With 3 first-teamers dropped and another suspended, one of my 3 Italian strikers came good, bagging all the goals in a 4-1 walloping of Leiria, after which we beat Braga, Vit. Guimaraes, Beira-Mar and E. Amadora (all lower than us in the table once we were done with them). Relegation was formally avoided when we thrashed Maritimo 4-0 away, scoring all the goals after having a
player sent off. We also had a player sent off at 3-0 down away to Boavista. It ended 5-5. A deeply stupid match.

League: W:11 D:8 L:11 GD:-2 Pts:41 Final Position:8th

Portuguese Cup: Beat Nacional (and their Formation of Doom) 2-1 in the 4th round, clobbered some non-leaguers in the 5th and then lost to Belenenses in the 6th. Yawn.

The Italian strikers finally proved they can play for the 1st team as well as the U-19s and the lump bagged 13 with a handful of assists. My DL is still excellent and got his first U-21 cap. El Capitan hasn't really improved over the season, which might be a worry in the future... but not now. I still really need a new MR - Danish guy isn't getting a new contract and the Italian I'd hoped could fill the gap is still not up to the job yet. Finally got some decent central defenders (I probably overdid it, to
be honest), so we should be able to push for Europe next season with any luck.
