| The Dutch presence in West Africa was limited to a few trading stations, they never held any significant territory there. For some reason there are dots representing Fernando Po (now part of Equatorial Guinea) and little bits of Angola, both of which were Portuguese.
Also I wonder why the coast of Brasil is included in a map of the ‘Dutch empire’, it was more of a privateer operation than empire building. In any case, they only controlled it for a short time before Portuguese ownership was restored.
In other words, DJ is right.

To elaborate slightly on that (I am quite drunk) - The Dutch never had the sort of links with west or central African nations, which would occasion large numbers coming from those countries to Holland, unlike say Senegalese to France. Although of course they would have these sort of links with South Africa or Namibia.
Belgium on the other hand owned a very large chunk of central Africa (the Congo) and so has historic links with that part of the world, which I think was what DJ was getting at!

Of course they can - if they're top flight teams with a huge scouting budget. :p
As for LLM teams using 'historical links' to justify scouting, I'd say no. The only exeption might be south Africa, but even there I'd be cautious. I very much doubt there are that many South Africans running around in the Dutch lower leagues.

My Dutch LL team has one African in it. Sandy McFez from Tunisia. I also have one Sirinamese player and an Australian. They are all my non-European players.

| Spot on!
Only: if any country in Europe has historical ties with Namibia, it would be Germany I think.

| No, there are virtually no historical ties between the Netherlands and Sath Efrica. The boers left quite a legacy with their lingo, of course, but Britain has far closer historical ties.
