The Aussie league is a difficult one to replicate for them ill give SI that because it is a new league and there are many fairly tight restrictions. However as the league expands i suspect these restrictions will be lifted somewhat and i guess that is what they have tried to do by allowing larger squads and wage budgets after a couple of seasons.

Im looking forward to future updates though

Are they playing in Asian CL? They're supposed to from next year.

As an aside, is it just me or have SI forgotten the J-League. I don't seem to have it on my game.

Not forgotten. I think it was a license issue.

Yes in the game Australian sides do lay in the Asian Champions League. However in game it starts from the end of the first season not the second as it is IRL
