Default Harrowing Harrogate

05/06

Conference North
Expectations – Mid table Finish.
Placed - 3rd
Promoted to Conference.
F.A. Cup – 1st Round
F.A. Trophy – 3rd qual rd.

A decent season. Inherited a fairly low scale bunch of lads, so I hired a scout and sent him out to try and strengthen some key areas. Mostly mediocre returns from him, but I did manage to buy some worthwhile players…eventually.

Scouting became a regular occurrence as my team seemed plagued by injury problems throughout the season. Started off the campaign very well, keeping within a few points of the lowest play off space through most of the first half of the season. Hit a bad patch in form in the last quarter of the season and dropped like a bomb.

Did some serious tactical and player reshuffling and by some miracle it worked and the players either won or drew their last games. Just pipped for 2nd place. Playoffs went very well, winning the semis 3-1 (agg) and 4-2 (agg).

06/07

Board Expectations – Battle against relegation.
Placed – 22nd
Relegated to Conference North
F.A. Cup 1st Round
F.A. Trophy 1st Round

A disastrous season from start to finish. In 46 games, we won 10 and lost 29. With little help from the board I was left with the same players from the previous season and they were just unable to cope with the Conference.

Tactics were changed constantly to try and stop the flood of hammerings dished upon us…to no avail. A typical headline read “so and so finally break their losing streak”. We couldn’t buy a win…I was glad to get out of that league.

07/08

Board Expectations – Win the Conference North
Placed – 3rd
Promoted to Conference
F.A. Cup 1st Round
F.A. Trophy 2nd Round

Despite the soul destroying previous season, the club was able to pick itself up and we had a very successful season. Incredibly, despite our horrendous previous season, the board expected us to win the league. They also announced that no transfer funds would be available. Our goals were further exacerbated when the board began refusing any transfers due to out wage bill being a mere 48 pounds over the limit.

And so it was up to the same players who were humiliated the previous season to pull off the impossible…and to possibly save my job. And despite my reservations they were up to the challenge. I knew we were good for a playoff place about half way through the season when we were still in the top three.

One of the highlights of the season was our 10 – 1 thrashing of Billingham Syn in the F.A. Cup 2nd Qual Rd. Pipped for second place by Hucknall by a mere single point, we took our revenge upon them in the playoff final, winning 3-1 and a place in the Conference. Will next season be another trip into hell for Harrogate?

I have some suggestions jambos, but only if you take them in the right spirit...

You've been a regular visitor to GPG and have talked about players for the above save - you'll have to stop visiting there if you wish to be taken seriously in LLM.

Discussing tactics and players in GQ is no better - it's the ethos, not the letter of the law that's important.

The idea of LLM is to play as realistically as possible. Therefore things like this:
Quote:
I have brought in loads more coaches, an unrealistic amount for the club I am playing with...
don't help your cause.

If you're serious about wanting to play the LLM way, then you need to make a choice...

Thanks for putting it into words.

Its not the despair, I can cope with the despair, its the hope I can't deal with.

1. Where in the LLM rules does it state that there is a limit on the number of coaches one can attain?

2. Where in the rules does it state I cannot use other forums to discuss players in my team? One would have to search my previous posts to find the info on that loan player...hardly a bloody trade secret. If I had named him in THIS thread or on THIS forum then you'd have a point "McDonald" you ****ing geordie bellend.

3. Ethics or not, if it's not in the rules then get stuffed.
