Default The Black Sheep of Holland

I have made my last visit to Frank for this incarnation of the game and he sent me to FC Omniworld from Holland.

A brief history:

Formed in 1997 from a club moving out of Amsterdam, they play their home matches in the Mitsubishi Forklift Stadium. A "cozy" stadium with 3000 capacity and a mere 500 seats.

It is also worth noting that Holland's second devision there is a "peroid" system in which the winner of each of the six period qualify for the playoffs which aslo include two premiership clubs. First place is automatically promoted.

Anyway...enough of my story telling...

2005/06

Board expectation: Safe midtable

I came to my squad which was painfully thin and it became imediately apparrent that reinforcements would be needed. The whole of my £100k transfer budget was spent on 5 players, the majority going on a new centre back. This was ballanced by the sales however bringing in £230k.

The season started very well and I won the second period ensuring a playoff place after just 12 matches. My star striker got injured shotly afterward and I realised just how much we relied on him with our form becoming indifferent at best. He finished the season with 27 goals and promptly left for Los Angelese on a free transfer.

Ended up finishing 10th and so I went into the playoffs where I won my first 4 matches winning the group with two games to spare!

Premier Devision here I come!

Premeir Division: Feyenoord
First Division: Helmond
Champion's League: ManUre
UEFA Cup: Barcelona
Word Cup: Poofland beat Clogland in the final \o/

2006/07

Board Expectations: Battle Bravely

I didn't hold out much hope for this season as I did not have much opportunity to strengthen my squad. Despite bringing in 15 players (110k), most of whom were defenders, and selling 4 (400k) I wasn't overly optomistic.

The whole season, whilest being a real struggle, was thoroughly enjoyable. With my star striker moved on I really struggled for goals and this is what untimately meant I finished second bottom and went into the relgation playoffs. Those of you on irc my have cause to question my defence but secsessive 0-6 and 3-7 were freak results.

This sent me into the playoffs again, this time playing to stay up and I got through to my final match needing a win to stay up. A thrilling match ensued which swung both ways and had me an emotional wreck by the end. Final score...4-4 and so it was back to the first division.

Premiership: PSV
First Division: Excelsior
Champions' League: ManUre
Uefa Cup: 'Boro

2007/08

Board Expectaions: Safe midtable

I however expected to do rather well having sent my scout out scouring central Europe furiously over the past six months and brought in many decent players, mainly for free. Seven players in for a toal of 317k and 13 leaving for £1.5mil.

The season went well generally, again, I won my playoff spot in the second period. I found it most enfuriating however to find that more often then not I was winning matches when I was dominating but was winning when being dominated making it increadibly hard to give team talks.

On the last day of the season I found myself needing a win to ensure first place. I promptly drew 2-2 at home and found myself droping to second on the last day.

So the 3rd successive year of playoffs was to follow and this again went to the game of the playoffs. I needed at least a draw away to the only team who could overtake me. Unfortunately, with injuries and suspensions seriously denting my squad, we crashed horribly, losing the match 3-1 and leaving ourselves with another season in the First Division. A season I feel will be much tougher with several key players moving on at the end of the seaon.

Premiership: PSV
First Division: De Graafschap
Champions' League: ManUre (sensing a pattern here)
Uefa Cup: Marseille
Euro 2008: Svenland beats Baconland in the final

Methinks your 4-4 playoff game against another relegation candidate is a strong hint that the 0-6 and 3-7 defeats were not "freak results."

Nevertheless, terrific update! It has more than a touch of Shakespearean tragedy about it. Please keep it coming and....
