My appologies, Scotty McYoungblood is a fictitious name.

How embarrassing

2008/2009, League 1

Same old story, board had us as relegation battlers, as did the fans. Transfer budget was £30k. I bought 17 players for a total of £425k, after I had offloaded 6 players for a cool £1.6m, including wantaway strike partner to Scottie McYoungblood for £1.4m who was sent to Crewe Alexandra.

This is the league I figured we would settle in based on previous seasons' cup results against teams from this league. In the beginning it certainly looked like it. We struggled away, a lot, even against teams I figured we would play out of the park. So I adjusted my tactics somewhat, making them a bit more defensive in nature, and lo and behold, we went on a 30 match unbeaten run. As we reached the last quarter of the season I considered the league over, which I shouldn't have. A home loss to Crewe (want-away striker that I sold to them scored twice, obviously )put me on an awful run. My lead in the league crumbled rapidly and promotion wasn't secured until the final game of the season thanks to me beating nr 3 in the league 2-1 at home, which meant they missed out on guaranteed promotion.

Final position: 1st in League 1.
LDV Vans Trophy: Winners.
League Cup: Knocked out in the 2nd round.
FA Cup: Knocked out in the 5th round.

Top goalscorer: Scottie McYoungblood with 29 goals.
Fans Player of the Year: Scottie McYoungblood.

The cup success was a nice touch to the season as I need the cup-money to have a remote chance of turning a profit the entire season. The club is still losing around £60k-£80k a month. I've been pushing for a stadium expansion and to get training facilities upgraded. Sadly no money are available so we're stuck at awful facilities and a stadium with room for around 6000'ish.

BUT! During the preseason something happened...

Let me guess ...

Satan called round to ask you to return what you'd borrowed from him ... and I don't mean a cup of sugar

I would hope that that would at least grant me some funds, but I am still dirt poor!
