Does anybody find it annoying how you can't really keep hold of your better players usually for more than a season because as soon as real or ac (who are serial 3rd placers admittedly have a history) come in all they want to do is sulk till you let them go even if there on a 5 year contract and you've just won the champions league/fa cup!!! For example vela great player, looking the business had him back in 2008 but in the jan transfer window real want to buy denilson, i say no, he sulks so i sell him for 30m all together, then after that goes through on the 29th i get an offer from real for every player in my first team, at the same time.. reject them all (dont see any : would like to discuss terms with this club) then vela goes off on one about me keeping him at this club against his will!!! HE HAS ONLY PLAYED FOR 6 MONTHS.. rrrhhgg.. makes me not wanna waste so much time on this game. anyway rant over, does this annoy anyone else, i know there is some realism in this but it does get ridiculous sometimes.
I often send such players (as my philosophy is all players can and must at some time be replaced) to my second team for lets say 2 months - and after 2 months they turn around and suddenly I'm their best manager even (if I promote them to the first team squad that is).
Footballers are just like little children - put them in the corner for a while then they'll come crawling back to you. Tough love is the answer...
maybe it's your first season and your not a well known manager so he decides it's better for him to leave then to be a misery (not winning trophy's) at your club
or you could assure him of first team football and say you're willing to prove yourself
or simply if he has a 5 year contract with you why did you sell him you could have said shut up I'm the boss
yeah i guess this is the way to go... will be much more of a hard nose in future, not sure where the shut up button is but will be looking for it in future.. yeah i know that they would go eventually just annoying that real always wants everybody for example they want merida and they already have robben, sniejer, diarra and more cm's than i can shake a stick at (although arsenal do have a lot too) another example of this was van persie, the little git suddenly one day decides he doesnt like me, and whines till the end of the season so i sell him to liverpool.. but im rather happy now as there in 16th position good career move!! and he is still unhappy... i guess its a simulation though can't realistically think like a real player with some intelligence.
i had Tuncay at boro, and the bigger clubs came aknockin, and what i did was to put a ridiculuosly high price tag on him, £145m to be precise so no one bid for him, and he didnt get upset. No one sulkin in my team
