Default Starting unemployed..... Is it worth it?

Id just like to ask anyone who, starting unemployed, has been rewarded with decent job offers (albiet L2,L1 or Championship) after taking teams from Blue square North/South or Scottish 3rd to higher places on the new FM08.

I don't want a repeat of last years FM07, where i nearly failed the first year of my degree going up the leagues with Scarborough (Got to L1) working hard to get a L1/Championship job, only to find that there wasnt really much point.

Depends on what reputation you start with and what type of game you want to play tbh.

Why not use the random selector instead? Could make for a pretty interesting starting point.

Automatic rep, i know last year if you had higher reputations you got better job offers, but thats not really the point. I was just wondering weather SI had sorted out last years massive bug where you dont get offered jobs in higher leagues for doing well in lower ones. I just want to know weather or not if you do well with a low club, do job offers come in like they do in real life.

P.s. im not really interested in the random selector. I want to start from the bottom and give myself a challenge.

From many of the posts I've read, some still current ones, it appears it is still difficult to be offered jobs at higher reputation clubs, especially when you are currently employed.

Additionally, it appears that the Board is even more intolerant of applying for "better" jobs as well.

I don't like the way applying for jobs has gone in 08. In 2006 (the last version I played), starting unemployed meant you could pretty soon get a job with a Conference North or South Team. Now if I try starting unemployed, I don't get a single job offer in one season. And yes, when applying for a job, your board ask you to resign, which never happened before and which I don't think should happen because it's up to you if you want to apply for a job, and you're just exploring your options, not planning on leaving.

To be fair, I find it quite bad. With such a managerial record you never deserve to land a job as Borussia Dortmund.

That said. I started the game unemployed as well. Went on holiday for the first few days and then applied at all open jobs. Got a job in the lowest Swedish league.
Got sacked just before they were relegated and am now managing a lower league Finnish team.

i started unemployed in 08. managed spal in lower italien leagues. got offered the leeds job without applying after 5ish years. then got the sevilla job (after resigning at leeds), then got offered the man united job.

so it shows if your a talented manager (like me) you can get higher positions! .....i became a legendary manager when i quit man u for my fav team torquay!!1

...although rather dissapointingly after winning champ league twice, premiership, 2 la liga's after joining torquay my reputation went back to local (tufc in the conf.)...

i dont think peter taylor has a 'local' rep now hes managing stevenage, do you......

Im guessing the lowest league in Germany you were running was the top one? If so yeah this is a bug where the game sees it as the lowest possible league in the country. In other words i now have to load all the leagues from each country that i may want to manage in to stop the unrealistic job offers even if i only want to load a top division incase i may end up there.
