I've been playing FM08 for a week now, in the Spanish 1st Division with Atletico Madrid.

I'm pretty happy overall and everything seems nicely balanced.

Positives:

1. Training is better. You can now sign enough coaches to achieve good star ratings in training, even in the first season, unlike FM07.

2. Media interaction is very comprehensive.

3. Transfer Centre is very useful.

4. I love having the ability to divert funds from the wage budget to the transfer budget.



Nitpicks:

1. In previous versions I could call up B Team squad players to my First Team whenever I wanted to, as well as young players from my C Team squad. This is no longer the case.

I assume this is a Rule change in Spain. Whatever the case, it sucks! A few injuries and I'm short on subs in key positions.

2. Often I'm in a hurry at half-time to continue the game, I'm changing my tactics and forget to switch back, or I press spacebar one too many times -- which leads to the second-half starting without me giving a Team Talk (which usually results in a poor performance).

I'm quite sure (my memory is hazy) in previous version it always displayed the Half-Time Team Talk screen before starting the second half (no matter what) and it made you confirm your choice.

I never skipped a half-time team talk in previous versions, but in one season alone in FM08 I've done it 3 times already.

3. There should be a way of removing a player and their scout report at the same time to prevent excess clicking.

4. After diverting funds from the wage budget to the transfer budget, if you don't spend it, you can't divert it back! Or if you can, I haven't found that feature yet.
