i am playing with the retail version (8.0) and have heard the new patch is actually worse is this true or should i use the new patch?

No its better.

Without patch your team wont close down amongst other things.

The patch sorts that out plus the movement and passing is much better.

However some people have problems creating far too many chances, however it doesnt happen to everyone depending on the tactics you use.

Its not perfect but for me patched is much better.
