From what I've read it's clear people are losing grasp of tactics, the constant shuffles needed and similar. Also some people are finding spending minutes working through tactis before between games confusing and time they'd rather spend elsewhere.
As it stands the assistant/scout watching an opposing team just gives mild suggestions for tactics, how about from FM09 the coach/scout gives direct help, ie "Player X should drop into a DM posision and man mark Y who's been known to score long range shots from outside the box" or "Team P have employed fast counter attackign football in recent away matches, I suggest we don't let the back four push too far up and that pacey defender G man marks L but stands off him."
As well as this the addition of a button at the bottom of the report that states 'incorporate scouting suggestions' and clicking so makes changes to your standard tactics, for this match only.
We can now attend matches, how about in FM09 as well as attending matches and watching highlghts from scouted matches and notes on tactics and players which we currently can, we can copy tactics from other scouted managers/teams, for single players, posisions or entire parts of the field? At the moment people have been posting saying "Why the hell don't my wingers perform like the AI ones?" and trying to figure it out with sliders is a lot harder then it would be in real life where a manager could just say they wanted player X to play similarly to player Z on another team. Obviously, different coaches and scouts with different attributes would recommend different things and finally the staff's preference for formations and types of play could have a use.
The final big change I'd like to suggest is a rethink of the sliders. As it stands with closing down and long distance shots it's rather confusing, in the future could we not have the same tactical view of the field and in a similar way to putting players in posision we could set a horizontal line on the pitch indicating where we'd not like a player to shoot from behind of, or for closing down where we'd not want a player hounded in front of?
