I'm only running Northern Ireland. I'd love to see regens-FREDs coming through in countries like Liberia, Rwanda, Benin, Montenegro etc. but there aren't any. Ever.
Any advice appreciated, willing to use (save game) editors.

If you get a feeder club in one of these countries, they will eventually produce FREDS, otherwise, I think it's pretty much luck if they are produced in obscure countries. The leagues you select and the size of the database will also have an effect though.
At the moment, I have an Ethiopian goalkeeper in on loan to my work permit feeder club who likes like he could become one of the best goalies in the world, so they do crop up.

i made myself a ddt file that retained a few clubs from every nation in the game (except for ones that have no clubs in the database, such as anguilla). i'm currently trying it out to see if it leads to more regens being created from nations that currently see very few players coming through. so far it doesn't look too good though, as few african regens are coming through
it's a shame as i took time over it, trying to ensure that lots of regens come through both from countries that haven't got playable leagues but do have footballing pedigree (nigeria, japan, etc), and from countries that could possibly become good footballing nations (india, benin, etc)
sadly in my current game i'm seeing more regens come out of denmark in a year than come out of the whole of africa or asia

I don't think "retain players from" impacts FRED generation in that country.
Making something an active league is the one guaranteed way to get players there. However, note that people have also reported an impact in other nations within the continent if there is at least one active league in the continent. I imagine this is also true in cases like the France-Senegal link, e.g., having France active should result in more Senegalese players.
I don't think there's anything you can do that will generate a ton of freds coming up from places like Liberia. |

Hehe, Liberia is quite decent (Jimmy Dixon, Dulee Johnson, Oliver Makor, Louis Crayton, Kelvin Sebwe, Dioh Williams - to name a few playing in good European clubs).
As an experiment in my save game, I've upped the training facilities of different clubs in Africa that had 'minimal youth facilities' before and produced no regens (or did for some reason a few countries). I guess it would be more simple to work on the pre-game editor and starting a new save game, but since I'm in 2013 with my Glebe game, that's not an option. |
