Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Nick Toye is infamous around these parts
Default Team Analysis

Ok, I have spent some time looking around this forum, picking up tips and hints and for the first time genuinely am starting to take the game seriously.

I have setup a spreadsheet with all the various positions and all the players within those positions and have made notes of the ratings that are likely to have an effect on those positions.

Eg. Goalkeeper -

Reflexes, Handling, Communication, Jumping

What I then do is each time their rating goes over 15 they get a point, and under 15 they lose a point. So I have a keeper who has:

13, 14, 14, 17 so his score is -2.

If they are youth players I start as 10 for the threshold.

Now what I do is then try and increase the ratings through training aspects, remembering to keep the overall slider at the last notch of medium. Then monitor and adjust to try and get them up as high as possible.

I have coaches all on 5* apart from one coach who although has Technique at 19 and Attacking on 13 he doesn't have 5* for shooting. Which doesn't make sense.

What I could do with now is some advice on things I may well have missed, like other skills that I should be trying to improve on.

Goalkeepers - Reflexes, Handling, Communication, Jumping
Fullbacks - Positioning, Tackling, Pace, Anticipation
Centrebacks - Tackling, Jumping, Positioning, Heading, Strength, Marking, Bravery, Teamwork, Pace
Defensive Mids - Workrate, Jumping, Tackling, Stamina, Positioning
Wingers - Pace, Dribbling, Passing, Off The Ball, Creativity, Crossing
Attacking Mids - Passing, Off The Ball, Creativity, Technique, Dribbling, Decisions
Quick Striker - Pace, Acceleration, Dribbling, Technique, Finishing, Off The Ball
Target Striker - Jumping, Heading, Strength, Off The Ball, Pace, Finishing

Any opinions on this would be great. I am hoping to write up an article on this if it works well through the season.

PS, how the hell do you improve Off The Ball? I am presuming Communication suffers if your keeper is foreign to the team you play? Not sure.

well not really. but you should look at the manual? It pretty muc tells you what aspects of training each position needs.

I do, I have studied it, but it doesn't tell you everything.

For instance, it doesn't tell you about communication, or how you get 5 stars on your team report.
