im currently with man utd just approaching the end of the third season and i still do not have a settled formation or set of tactics. iv tried most but just cant seem to find one that im happy with, or more importantly a winning one.
my current squad
GK - ochoa, vds, foster
RB - dani alves, neville
LB - heinze, bale, chiellini (sp)
DC - ferdinand, vidic, pique
DM - hargreaves, gibson
AML/R - ronaldo, nani, adu, giggs
AMC - aimar, anderson, scholes, van der vaart
ST - rooney, torres, pato, toni, aguero
its a good squad but i just cant seem to do anything with them. i doubt i'l win the prem this season and im already out of the cl and league cup in the quarters and the fa cup in the 4th round.
any advice would be welcome

Best thing to do is go on a holiday for 1 game then go back to that match and look at the tactics your assistant manager has played with

| well i did exactly what you said, the only difference is that rooney and torres were injured so i played aguero and pato up front.
i had 58% possession, they had 42%
i had 8 shots on target, they had 3
i had 11 shots off target, they had 6
i lost!!!! 3 f-ing 1 away to 17th placed sunderland!!! even tho no-one had orders to have long shots 80% of my shots have been 35+ yards out, why? as usual tho it said at the end 'man utd have lost a game they really should have won'. if iv seen that once this season iv seen it a hundred times. im getting so p****d off with this game and its ai bias its unreal

You have a similar set-up in terms of players to me, so let's see...
Firstly, the team instructions: I'd reccommend setting a team mentality to attacking, but just by one notch. Don't set the Tempo, that's VDV's job. And set passing to short for the team.
Players: Make Hargreaves very defensive, with no freedom at all, very short passing, and hard tackling so he can win balls properly and distribute to VDV. Give Ronaldo and Nani LESS creative freedom, as otherwise, they move too far forward and inside, meaning that the first line of defence against counters is gone. Give Rooney and Torres high *forward runs* and *run with ball*, and set through balls to mixed, but give them normal creativity. Have your full-backs *forward runs* on mixed - the attacking burden should be more on your wingers. And set VDS to distribute to a near player.
Hopefull, this should work, though getting the right team talk is vital. Also, check the team understanding. If it is less than "blending well" you are bound to have trouble. For tricky away games, use a TM as an outlet, and set the team mentality to defensive.
