Please help me, i'm desperate for some inspiration.
i'm in my first season in the prem with sunderland and am having a bit of a shocker, and with 12 games of the season left, time is running out to save sunderland from the drop, i'm 7 points from safety and have some decent players, but obviously my tactics are letting me down.
is there anyone who can help me sort out my tactics, and help explain why things are going wrong, if so, what info do you need from me about my players and tactics.
i am currently conceding more than 2 goals per game, and only scoring 1, so need to change things around if i'm going to survive this season.
- set up a defensive tactic with a defensive midfielder, suggest 442 diamond
- play with a deep defensive line
- set defenders to play direct passing
- pick a decent target man with good jumping, strength and heading stats and set him as target man
- Play counter attacking football
Basically, the tactic I would implement is a deep defensive line - ideal for a counter attacking tactic where your defenders hit direct balls up the field to your target man. He should be big and strong (a good jumper) who will hold up the ball and set up your team mates. The basis of your attacks should be your defenders seeking him as an outlet and him winning the ball and picking out other members of your side. Those players, further up the pitch, should be on short passing (and therefore the team should be set to a fairly slow tempo) in order to keep possession and conserve energy, plus waste time. Make it so most of your player instructions are set to mixed - so your players hold onto the ball and seek the best opportunity rather than always trying through balls for instance.
Does that help at all? Let me know if you have any queries about what I've said?
