After a rather hectic start of the season in which we are 1st after 9 matches I decide to sacrifice another lamb to secure the finances further and appease the Gods.

This time a striker whose ego was starting to become bigger than the team. He asked 5x my allowed maximum wage and loads of bonuses. Off he goes to Oldham for £1m upfront + £1m in 12 months and a 20% next sale clause.

So out the prima dona striker and we didn't miss him much until my 3 first choice strikers began being on constant international duty

18 yo N.Irish striker is playing U19s and U21s.

17 yo Poofland striker is playing U19s.

19 yo Welsh striker is playing U19s, U21s and won his first full national side cap in the WC playoffs.

As a result of this mass exodus we've somewhat lost trail of QPR (managed by a certain ex-Hotspurs, ex-Arsenal defender), who is now 7 points clear from us, but still managed to keep ourselves 2nd and 5 points clear from the chasing pack.

7 first team players are chased, trailed and enquired by Championship and Premiership teams. Here's hoping they don't become unsettled.

Out of the small cups at the first try, but still have a 3rd round FA Cup tie against Manchester City at Borough Park... if we only managed to force a replay... [/wishful_thinking]

Luckily, there are not as many international call-ups (or they simply don't collide as much with my fixtures) in the 2nd half of the season.

A reasonable team rotation policy sees us concatenate 15 consecutive wins in the league only to afterwards collapse in the last 5 matches to lose the League 1 title on the very last day.

I'm still chuffled, though, as this means another promotion and breaking 2 League One records (Most League 1 goals scored by a team: 109 and Most League 1 goals scored by a player: 31)

I live in constant fear of our four musqueteers (18 yo N.Irish ST, 17 yo Poof ST, 20 yo Welsh ST and the 22 yo snailish AMC) progressing far too quick for the team to keep them aboard, but so far so good and even if they suddenly want out I still would have managed to progress to the Championship on their backs :cool: (Not to mention the fact that we would become rich if we were to sell the 4 of them, as they are worth a £7.3m tag combined).

The N.Irish striker gets his 1st Full side cap and his value is already £3.5m before the seasonal update. He has scored 78 goals and given 32 assists in 87 matches for Workington :eek:

5 more U17 signings lined up for next season, as our youth prospect scout has been unearthing them left and right and, to be frank, if they turn as good as the ones he discovered before I'd be more than happy.
