Despite a loss of form during February and midmarch (though by then we were playing the top teams of the Conference) we end the season in a respectable 7th spot, only 3 points away from the last playoff spot.

Special mention to Paddy Anchorman, who is the inspired leader of the team. His 10 goals, 4.85 tackles/match and 15 assists from the anchor position speak for themselves. A Welsh 19 yo striker also deserves a mention, as he's our first player to break the £100k valuation mark.

Cometh the season break, we let 15 out and welcome the 8 new faces. With this last reshuffle, only 6 players on our books have been more than 24 months at Workington.

Changes involve the defense and the wings as those were the two weaknesses we had last season.

The board improve the training facilities from 'fairly basic' to 'average'.

With Paddy Anchorman off for the whole 1st 21 matches, this was some struggle. However, the Welsh striker and a N.Irish giraffe who poses as striker have kept us in touch with the top spots in the league.

KISS regime (aka Keep It Simple, Stupid!) has been installed and several players have been playing more solidly (or perhaps I'm delluding myself into believing they are).

Paddy came back to fitness for match #24 and boy he was being missed

With him commanding and captaining the midfield we went from strength to strength and managed to get our best ever unbeaten run (that is 22 league matches).

We wrapped the league in style, as neither Weymouth nor Billi Town were able to follow our trail. \o/

So it's up to the Football Leagues!

I've sacrificed one lamb to the gods (selling him for £500k and some £1m in future/conditional fees) to secure our finantial stability and trimmed the squad a bit from the players that were quite obviously not going to make it into League 2 (raising £324k in the way).

Here's hoping that we turn pro and the board remember to improve the training facilities!

The KISS regime is proving my best ever decision.

About half a season more gone and we're not embarassing ourselves. I guess turning pro has helped to this.

9th in the league (2 points from the last playoff spot) and still alive in the FA Cup (where we have an away 3rd round moneyspinner at Merseyside). The reserves are also doing good in the Sucks Arse Trophy.

I've done quite an overhaul to the playing stuff, our most important signing being a 17 yo Irish striker signed from Cohb Ramblers (spelling?) for a hefty £80k. I'm using him as supersub/ understudy of our other strikeforce signings and his value has already skyrocketed to £1.2m in league 2

Another significant signing is a quite snailish AMC who is quality, but can't run the 100m under 30 seconds.

Cobh, Jordi. Pronounced Cove.

A rather impressing second half of the season sees us end 2nd in League 2.

Yes

This sure means back to back promotions \o/

League 1 looks more like a real challenge, but I won't complain as the reputation boost from going up has seen us finally offer some logic team structure contracts (we only have 3 key players now \o/, though we have a massive £24k/week salary bill).

All the merit from the promotion should go to our strike force, as we had 5 players end the season with 20+ goals (one of them being the snailish AMC, who also got the fans player of the season award).

17 yo N.Irish striker is progressing so well that I've decided to splash £60k more on a 16 yo striker recommended by the same scout who found the lad.

On a side note, and something which I found quite interesting, my assistant must be some maniac depressive.

On June 20th I ask him a team report: We'll done fine in League 1 unless some bizarre injury crisis hits us hard.

On June 30th: We might be able to avoid relegation without loads of trouble if we strengthen our left wing.

On July 15th: Workington have no chance to avoid relegation.

Something pesky going here Matt... You might as well take note and tell the SI bods something.
