Ok - sort of off-topic as it's not directly linked to FM, but it's definately lower league! I know a lot of people here are interested in the history of the game and as such may be able to help me. I'm looking for the Southern League results of 1911-1912 for some research I'm doing, if anyone can help me out could you please email me at fugazi3973@hotmail.com
If this post is totally in the wrong place then please could an admin redirect it? And if I've totally wasted everybodies time then I apologise now.
Yeah tried all the normal Googles, and the Southern League site was useless to be honest. I've had various degrees of success with other seasons, just casting the net a bit further, and know you guys are all knowledgable! nudge nudge creep creep....
I almost certainly have the Reading results and the league table at home.
A bit of a long shot, but they are in a book written by a guy called David Downs (or it may have been Alan Sedunary) who is the club statistician. You could maybe try contacting him through the club as he may have got them from a source that would cover the other teams.
Thanks a lot Lukewarm! I've managed to track down some sites covering individual teams (I don't think Reading were one of them but I'd have to trail through a whole list of Favourite sites to be sure - I've really got to sort through that and cull some of the sites! I organise my research almost as badly as I manage football teams.......) and have been in touch with some clubs as well, some really useful (Millwall for example who photocopied their own records and posted them to me) some not so useful (Watford.. not gonna go into that - that's what happens when clubs gain success, bloody non-LL clubs....) Found a good book only to then find out it's out of print.. although I've managed to find it on ebay and am currently bidding on it...
Ooops - just realised that you're probably a Reading fan.... ummm ummm ummm I've got to thank you for proving my "small clubs who gain success letting it get to their head" theory TOTALLY wrong.. I obviously meant the club not their fans *Shuffles away, which isn't easy with both feet in his mouth*
