I'm installed as the new manager of a Conference South club and I've got questions.
--Do I, as was the case in upper leagues, have to get contracts renewed before the final-six-months window or risk getting players poached on free transfers? This is important for me. At least three-fourths of my contracts expire at the end of my first season.
--Since finding players in LLM play is keyed to realism, am I allowed to comb the rosters of other clubs for players to scout? IRL, I'd know about the guys at least on other Conference South clubs.
--Can I search for staff? (Although I wonder where I'd find replacements willing to work for the peanuts my inherited staff are getting.)
--I see from the rules that you don't commit a cardinal sin by using the search function for finding loan-ins. Have the honchos ever considered the issue of searching for released players? IRL, there are English web sites that track transfers and releases, and it wouldn't be a giant step to assume that managers have access to the Internet.
--On loaners. I've asked this question elsewhere without success. Does anybody know whether you have to pay a loaned-in player's appearance fees?
I'm not trying to rock any boats. Just trying to learn.

Yes. Players are free to negotiate contracts with other Clubs in the 6 months running up to the end of their contract.

No. If the players are brought to your attention, either by playing against them or through media reports, but preferably through scouting, then they become fair game...not until.

Yes. The Job Centre is crap and will hopefully be totally redone in FM2007.

Oh yes. Considered and deemed absolutely corrupt.

No. You pay a %age of his wages, not his "others".

Thanks, ijafer. And congratulations! I asked that question about loaner fees a couple of times in the General forum. You're the first manager who had the answer.
Now, back to the new team to try to figure out what kind of squad I have.
