Default It May Be a Giant Axe, But Its Not Very Sharp

Belgium, France, Germany, Holland all Basic...Northern Ireland, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England all Full
Huge Database. Load all players from USA and Croatia (I'm 50% Croatian)

After my Maidenhead/Dunfermline game crashed I headed back to Frank and Conference North in England.

He gives me Lancaster. Typically, I get no cash for purchasing new players. The wage budget is 3,800 ED per week. I sign a 1 year deal at 150 ED per week. WooHoo! Don't quite your day job!!!!! My long-term goal is to eventually land the job at Stoke City and take them to glory.

Season 1 2005-2006
[B]Lancaster Conf North 18th Place 13W 11D 18L -10 GD[\B]

I'm expected to rebuild the team. The fans expect me to avoid relegation. With no money for transfers, I'm stuck picking up dog turds for free. I bring in 7 players- a young GK with some potential; 2 attackers that
couldn't hit water from a boat; a defender that trips over the penalty box; and 3 midfielders with little passing or dribbling ability.

What CRAP!!!!! The first half of the season we were flirting with the championship and in November actually found ourselves, for 1 week, in first place. Tim Nowaterfromaboat actually even manages to score 2 goals in
one game. But from the beginning of February on, we manage only 7 points the rest of the way to fall like a coconut dropped by an African Swallow going 1W 4D 9L. Managing Director OldDrunkGuy is still delighted with my performance, so those pictures of him with Rosie O'Donnell do their job. :o

Season 2 2006-2007
Lancaster Conf North 7th Place 15W 17D 10L +18 GD

Thanks to again getting no money for transfers, the old geezer chairman just wants me to fight bravely againt relegation. I bring in 10 players on free transfers. 2 play significantly. I have a new GK who actually has some skill including 6 goal keeping attributes in double digits !!!! I got him from Sc&nthorpe. I also got a DM from Torrington who played in 28 games.

We flirt with promotion rising to 4th and staying there for a while. But our leaky defense and a bit of an injury bug costs us and we go from the end of January to the middle of March without a win. All in all a solid if
unspectacular season. Oh, and Cups suck Arse as we go out in the FA Cup in the 4th qualifying round to Harrowgate (who finishes in 14th place in the Conf N) and out of the 1st round of the FA junior to Conf Nat Stevenage 5:2.

EPL: ManUre

Season 3 2007-2008
Lancaster 3rd Place Conf North 18W 12D 12L +19GD (11 more goals than anyone else)

5 players in 0ED 7 players out for 39,000ED

The Board offers me a 3 year contract at the same 120ED per week salary. I negotiate a 2 year 130ED/week salary which I sign after trying to con them into giving me some transfer money to no avail. Wales has offerred me their NT job. I turned them down as I don't think I'm ready for it yet.

To quote a TV figure from my childhood "Missed it by THAT much". Out of the gate, we struggle mightily, going 1W 2D 6L to start. Genius that I was, I had sold off last years top scorer for 24,000ED as I was running a 4-5-1 and he was always run down with a stamina rating of 2. I switched to a 2 attacker formation with a couple of recent signings and voila! 5:1 and 3:0 wins righted the ship.

From there its a quick trip up the table, where we top out in 2d place. Thanks to a schedule that finished with 3 relegation candidates, we are able to claim 3rd place at the end which gives us a match up with Barrow. This wasn't good news as we went 0-0-2 this season against them.

First half was brutal as we fell behind 3:0 and I was ready to give some youngsters some experience in the pressure cooker of the playoffs. But we bounced back with 2 second half goals to give us hope for the return match. Alas, it wasn't to be as we went down 0:1. Good news is I found a striker. A 20 year old English lad I picked up on a free from Worksop who gets the Golden Boot for Conference North with 25 goals.

EPL: Tottenham Hotspur
Championship: Charlton
League 1: Oldham
League 2: Torquay
Conf Nat: Rochdale
Conf North: Worksop
Conf South: Canvey Island

FA Cup: Tottenham Hotspur
FA Trophy: Stafford
League Cup: Chelski (Retain)

Jockland: Rangers
NIreland: Linfield (Retained Again)
Wales: TNS (Retained)
Erie: Shelbourne (Retained)
France: Paris (Retained)
Holland: Feyenoord
Germany: Stuttgart
Belgium: AA Gent (on GD over Charleroi)

Euro Champions Cup: Benfica 3e:2 Feyenoord
Euro Cup: Liverpool 2:1 Athletic (Esp)

What do you mean? I just took the option of adding countries players to the data base that the game gives you at the beginning. I'm not aware that there is anything wrong with this.

There is a school of thought that loading all players from single countires unbalances the game.

Perhaps Mkus was simply saying the phrase should have been "Loaded all players...", hence 'And ED?'

He was either being too clever for you or I'm an idiot and he was too clever for me too.

But what Luke said was valid too.

In light of the world cup performance of those two teams, I doubt there will be much talent out there
