How would they know they're making a realistic offer? Having fog-of-war transfer values means having to make enquiries with the selling club first before barging in waving a wadge of cash under their noses. Even then, you may disagree with their valuation, or simply not believe it. It makes you have to negotiate deals, properly and more realistically than they are done in the game at present.

It'll place even more importance on having scouted the player not just once, but several times, just like it happens IRL to make you you're getting what you're wanting, and working out what you think it's worth spending on a player and how much you'd be willing to be beaten up to in negotiations.

I agree with you Glyn.

I should have made the expression "realistic offer" in italic, because it was meant to represent that the guy thinks his offer is so.

Really love this idea, how many times have your scouts come back with info about two players, same division (normally even same team), same(ish) age, stats look roughly the same but values given vary quite a bit. You just *know* that there's something hidden about one of the players making him better, so you go for him and ignore the second. Now you'd make sure your scouts do a more thorough job on both players as you wouldn't have that extra unofficial stat to go by. (Although knowing my luck I'd still find out they were both out of my range)

Great idea, but it would have to be as part of fog-of-war. Can you see the 12 year olds wanting to take the time to find out how much a player costs?

So you've only got 12 months or so to implement it SI lol

I like the idea, my view would be once the player is scouted you would approach the club and either make an offer of what you think is realistic or ask them for the transfer value and then negotiate.

What everyone else said basically.

What I'd like to see though is players have a value under some circumstances:

1. The player is placed on the transfer list and his manager has nominated a price,
2. An estimate from your scout or assman who has spent time looking at him. Won't be accurate or represent what his club wants for him of course,
3. Media reported estimated value for a player who has been bandied about in the press as a potential transfer candidate.

Someone at GQ suggested values for your own team be visible to you. Not sure I like that as I have a 16yo currently who has played 2 matches and is valued as my 4th highest. I didn't notice anything special about him when the scout turned him up amongst the scores of other schoolboys, but it's obvious now he's good, and the only way I know he's good for sure is the bloody valuation.

I have always hated the "player value" clue to the potential ability of the youth team. Same as AI teams suddenly bidding for them when you have only had them a couple of weeks from the close season imports

Is there a way to get scouting reports on your youth? Scouts give some indication whether a 19yo on another team is going to be good, but how do you get such information on your own youths?

Used to be in the training overview for the player. Should still be there for 07 I would think.

It is Michal, on each individual player's training screen.

So if you want to know if your Johnny McSchooly is a decent prospect, that's where you look.
