Hmm we could run a challange as well to see who gets the most parent clubs in a few seasons that should be a laugh.

Whoops I was a little too hyper then and now wonder if I get a Prize for that.
Plus when was I playing in scotland last night motherwell was nearly taken over this could ruin a good game as they were going to fire the current manager and bring in there own

| Key member or not, I'd still think a second opinion would be needed, otherwise you're signing a guy blind just because his mate, who happens to be a key member at the club, suggested him to you.

That's my point. If you hire a scout that has a certain player in his personal favourites list, and the scout recomends this player, will you ask for another opinion??
You may accept the indication based only on the player's recomendation, but I wouldn't sign a player with unrevealed attributes, for example.

I can see what you are getting at but what you should remember is that the player in question may have been on the scouts “personal favourites list” for several years. He may be a completely different player to when the scout last saw him. He may be on the favourites list because he once bought the scout a beer!! He must be scouted even if it is the scout the recommends him..

That's exactly what I'm saying, Hogie. According to the "scout no matter what" mentality, we need to scout every player that attracts our interest.
I only sign players that my scouts have found, and I rarely ask them to scout any player that has been brought to my attention by media items.
However, I would definately sign some players without having them scouted. Suppose you get a news about an England international that wants to leave his club. If the player has 10+ games for the national squad, I'd think it's fair game to sign him without asking your scout.
And what will you do if your striker suggest this player?? Scout him only because you decided that you don't have knowledge about him?? And, if you know the player is great, and your scout says otherwise?? Will you give up the transfer??
I didn't consider this to be a gray area, but now that I've (finally) achieved the top flight in my save, it seems the scouting is probably the "grayest" area of LLM.

In my Conference game, I asked my veteran former international to recommend a player, and he told me to sign an old international team mate of his. I followed his recommendation. I shouldn't have.
Of the other features, LLM seems to have more controversial incidents (maybe because the quality of officials is lower?). Scouting seems okay, they found a good young player in some U18 squad who became a first team regular for me, but also looked like some dodgy recommendations. Overall, looks good.

More correctly, player acquisition is one of the grayest area in LLM. Even the official guidelines notes differences in play styles.
You can toss more onto your argument - if a player leads your division in goals, do you need to scout him before signing him? What if it's the league above yours? What about scouting players at a same-league club? Obviously player search is a big no-no, but the LLM guidelines are not as clear on some methods of finding players.
Regardless on your stance on the issue, the LLM rules will probably benefit from a small update once FM07 has been out for a bit.

We have always been allowed to send a scout to look at a player that we have heard about in the media. As far as I am concerned, hearing about a player throug a player or staff member is the same as hearing about them through the media.

| I'm not saying we're not allowed to. I'm saying is that in certain situations it would be useless to send a scout.
